Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson... Billy Mays?! NOOOOO!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_obit_billy_mays

Quote
TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.

Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn't expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.

Mays was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.

Discovery Channel spokeswoman Elizabeth Hillman released a statement Sunday extending sympathy to the Mays family.

"Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth," Hillman's statement said. "Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend."

http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/year-s-biggest-video-games-event-threatened-by-swine-flu-fears/1316127

Quote
Every summer, everyone who's anyone in the video games industry gathers in Los Angeles for the E3 entertainment show: a week of game demos, press conferences and announcements that spell out the shape of the games world for the next year. But this year's model, which starts in just two weeks, is falling foul of swine flu travel restrictions issued by the Japanese government.

One game is already confirmed as a swine-flu-related no-show: Capcom-developed zombie thriller Dead Rising 2. Prominent Japanese developers Square Enix (responsible for the Final Fantasy games) and Koei have both forbidden their Japanese staff to attend the show.

After the U.S., Mexico and Canada, Japan is the country with the most swine flu cases, and the government has taken major steps to curb the outbreak, including closing over 4,000 schools and advising citizens to avoid international travel.

E3 organizers are committed to going ahead with the event, though. As spokesperson Dan Hewitt told gaming blog Joystiq a few weeks ago, "The 2009 E3 Expo is progressing as planned. Public health officials are taking all appropriate steps and we continue to follow their direction on all measures."

The part that pisses me off the most...

But seriously, wtf guys? Shoulda at least merged the characters. Wally practically gave up and to go by previous vote totals is slightly unfair as my match with Grizzle was cut short due to the forefit. Great job.

Edit: And I love how the tie vote is someone with Zero posts. Haha...

Some Xbox 360 mods are the product of serious craftsmanship, some are rather silly, and some -- like this Suzuki automobile console / Xbox 360 game console hybrid -- really give one pause. This isn't the sort of thing that one spends moments / hours / weeks on, after which he reflects for a moment ("Aren't I rather clever?"), and then hides it safely in the closet (or sells it on eBay). No, this is an automobile. We're guessing that the slight cringe of embarrassment he's going to feel when picking up his date for the cotillion will be outweighed by the safety and security he feels knowing that he can always play Super Smash Bros. Brawl -- even on the road. According to the photo's description on Flickr, this car features not one but two Xbox 360s, two projectors, and two flat screens. The game controllers are availabe at a moment's notice -- including one in the steering wheel, one in front of the gear shifter -- and one of the 360s is set in the dashboard. Oy vey.

Screw the 360 Car mod... Brawl is for Wii, not XBox. Article Fail. >.>

Character Biography
Once a poor Alaskan orphan raised by a moose couple, she rose to success as a beauty queen then later Governor of the state of Alaska. One fateful day, as she was checking in on Russia from her kitchen window, she received a call from God telling her to become John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate. Unimpressed with his lack of "maverick-ness" she proceeded to become the greatest maverick to exist (aside from Tom Cruise in Top Gun) and sabotaged his campaign while rumored to be in a bikini and toting an AK-47. Her sabotage succeeded and McCain's campaign crumbled allowing her to rise to the top of the Republican party. With her army of Alaskan woodland creatures, under the threat of being hunted to extinction, and wealthy oil tycoon bible-thumpers this maverick has a new mission, to conquer the world and force everyone in the world to fall in love with hockey and pit bulls. Don't let her folksy facade fool you, she's a BAMF who won't take any of your !@#$% "gotcha" questions.

Oh. And...Maverick.

ROME - A deer with a single horn in the center of its head — much like the fabled, mythical unicorn — has been spotted in a nature preserve in Italy, park officials said Wednesday.

"This is fantasy becoming reality," Gilberto Tozzi, director of the Center of Natural Sciences in Prato, told The Associated Press. "The unicorn has always been a mythological animal."

The 1-year-old Roe Deer — nicknamed "Unicorn" — was born in captivity in the research center's park in the Tuscan town of Prato, near Florence, Tozzi said.

He is believed to have been born with a genetic flaw; his twin has two horns.

Calling it the first time he has seen such a case, Tozzi said such anomalies among deer may have inspired the myth of the unicorn.

The unicorn, a horse-like creature with magical healing powers, has appeared in legends and stories throughout history, from ancient and medieval texts to the adventures of Harry Potter.

"This shows that even in past times, there could have been animals with this anomaly," he said by telephone. "It's not like they dreamed it up."

Single-horned deer are rare but not unheard of — but even more unusual is the central positioning of the horn, experts said.

"Generally, the horn is on one side (of the head) rather than being at the center. This looks like a complex case," said Fulvio Fraticelli, scientific director of Rome's zoo. He said the position of the horn could also be the result of a trauma early in the animal's life.

Other mammals are believed to contribute to the myth of the unicorn, including the narwhal, a whale with a long, spiraling tusk.

Now if they ever find a pixie or faerie we shoud know the end of the world is coming XD

Wal-Mart throws in $100 gift card with Blu-ray player purchase

by Darren Murph, posted Jun 3rd 2008 at 10:51PM

Given that $100 at Wal-mart is essentially as good as cash, we can only imagine how titillating this offer may seem for Blu-ray holdouts. Announced today, the mega-retailer will be offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of any Blu-ray player from June 8th through 14th -- and yes, Sony's PlayStation 3 is included. In case this wasn't enough to maybe-possibly get the general public to actually pay attention to the format, Wally World will also sell "select" BD titles for $15 starting on the 8th. Since the format war ended earlier this year, we've seen report after report proclaiming that Blu-ray adoption just wasn't taking off here in America, but with a theoretical net price now close to $200 (albeit for a few days only), we can certainly see the masses taking notice at long last.

I'm kinda broke at the moment but would this encourage any one else to buy it?

So I was talking to my best friend a few days ago about how Lucario's moves in Super Smash Bros Brawl look a LOT like something out of Dragon Ball Z. So that gave me an idea and I headed to my sketchbook and this is what came out (well after too many hours and some CG coloring obviously)

Lucario:

Majin Kirbuu:

I'm planning on doing a Dende/Namek inspired Pikachu here soon then maybe some other stuff. If you have any ideas of an SSBB character I can make Super Saiyan lemme know (or any other ideas for that matter).
