Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Rupee Rod; Story Finished
Post by: PoeFacedKilla on August 21, 2006, 11:38:53 am

In the land of Termina there is a legend...

Deep within the Forbidden woods of Termina Lies a portal...

A portal by which can only be reached by a great evil deed...

Engines:
Walking: |||||||||| 100%
Sword: | 10%

Overall Demo Progress
Demo One: | 1%

Latest Screen
(http://zelda383.net/ruppe/1.PNG)

I have finished the overall story and am working on getting all my resources together before i began main game production.

So heres a glimpse of the story:

A "person" is tempted by a mask they found laying on the ground. They pick it up and the mask begins talking to him, telling him to wear it. He puts it on, and is consumed by the masks evil and greed, and sets out to destroy Termina, while bringing the moon back, he releases a cursed portal, that he goes through to find a new land.

One day, while Link was walking through the woods he discovers this portal, Tatl, and Tael come and tell him of what happened, they say that the evil masked man has entered the portal, so Link, Tael, and Tatl enter the portal together...

And that pretty much how are story begins,of course there is a big in depth story behind it all but pretty much that is the basic outline. This game will be rather short, it will consist of three main levels, and a final level. All criticism is welcome.

Looks really good but I have one complaint. You should use some grass and flower tiles on the bottum screen so it dosen't look so plain.

ok, ill add some, right now, i'm mostly working out bugs, and adding houses and stuff.

Looks alright, pretty decent. The fairies aren't quite LTTP-style, but what the hey.
You should add some grass and flower tiles to make it look more natural, and NPCs shouldn't be a hard addition, but apart from that, brilliant so far.

I'll try to post something when the time comes.

New items, please can I have a clue?

Screen isn't bad, but not enough to tell us information about your game. The plot totally needs to be redone - I personally don't want to play a sequel to Majora's Mask which starts off nearly the exact same and has Majora's Mask all over again.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Hammer Bro. Mike on September 28, 2006, 08:34:49 pm
Well you do get to fight the mask again but it's different this time. All I can tell you right now is that the Postman of Clock Town steals the Majora's Mask from the Happy Mask Salesman.

Some new items are listed below:

Impa's Cape - Allows you to deflect enemy beams, arrows, etc. Physical attacks won't be deflected. Works like Mario's Cape in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Clawshot - Allows you to grapple items, posts, wood, and gates. The idea came from the upcoming Twilight Princess.
Golden Bow - This bow allows you to shoot Light Arrows instead of normal arrows.
Goliton Sword - You find this sword in the Enchanted Woods later in the game.

That's all the info for now.

:-\more like my idea...

I came up with that a couple months ago...

It's alright though just either give me credit or say I came up with it before you got it from TP. ;D
If you need a new storline PM me and I'll give ya a basic idea. I'm good with that type of thing. :D

These aren't "new" items though. They are cheap names for items that have already been named.

Clawshot = hookshot + a bit more
Impa's cape = Nayru's love/a simple shield, maybe a bit different
Golden Bow - just plain silly, you shouldn't have to get a different bow to fire light arrows, you should just get light arrows as an item, just like in every other Zelda
Goliton Sword = just some random sword upgrade, just like there is a sword upgrade in every Zelda game, with some dififerent name
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Bboy on September 29, 2006, 03:27:34 am
You are so negative and 'mean' lately. It's probably his first try, don't be so harsh, nintendo in't always perfectly original, he said clawshot is an actual item, I think Impas cape was very original, WW magic shield, think nayru's love :o so original.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Hikij on September 29, 2006, 04:09:05 am
The plot could use some work, because Link defeated Majora's Mask for good in Majora's Mask... plus, it just doesn't feel too much like Zelda. Same with the items. But, the game is really what matters. Good luck.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Scooternew on September 29, 2006, 05:46:51 pm
I'm not being more "harsh" lately, I'm being more realistic. I don't understand how you could say Nintendo isn't original, and of course many items are recycled from one Zelda game to the next, but it is idfferent when Nintendo actually created the entire Zelda series. The items just didn't soudn original to me, so I'm sorry if you don't agree with me.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Bboy on September 29, 2006, 07:24:27 pm
I think you're just being harsh because of the storyline which I agree with, it needs alot of work but the actual items(except for the gold bow)I think are actually like Nintendo, not to mention those are just a few.

I got the Golden Bow idea from Minish Cap, because you can get the Light Bow which shoots Light Arrows. I want to make the Clawshot an item since the Hookshot is always an item. The Goliton Sword, I thought up as a legendary sword like the Master Sword but from a different land instead. Impa's Cape is an item you get from Impa. It only deflects beams, fire, stuff like that. It's pretty useless once you get the Mirror Shield.

The plot could use some work, because Link defeated Majora's Mask for good in Majora's Mask... plus, it just doesn't feel too much like Zelda. Same with the items. But, the game is really what matters. Good luck.

You just haven't heard more about the story yet. It's gunna be a lot like a Zelda game, don't worry. Beating the Majora's Mask again would be a great idea because it's just like versing Ganon in most Zelda games like OOT, The Wind Waker, and Four Swords Adventures. But Majora's Mask is gunna have old and new moves. When the time comes, I'll post more of the story.

If it becomes useless, make puzzles that specifically need it, or enemies for that matter.

Sorry for dissin the golden bow never got the light bow in MC

I'll keep it in mind, just in case. I don't need help with a story right now.

EDIT: I will start on making sprites of some of the items. I'll post an update once I get them done. Oh, and I'll post some name ideas I thought up for the game so you can post your own ideas or pick which one you like.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title

UPDATE!!! Sorry for the double post though. I have made some new maps for the game, I can't show you though. :(

But I made this update about the name of the game. I thought up 4 name ideas for the game. Below are the names I thought up:

- The Legend of Zelda: The Unwanted
- The Legend of Zelda: The Golden Rupees
- The Legend of Zelda: Tale of Darkness
- The Legend of Zelda: Wrath of Evil

Those are my name ideas. You can choose which one you like if you want. Or...you could think of your own. All you need to know is that the Majora's Mask is back, it's a dark title just like Majora's Mask. Those are some hints to help think up a good title. :)

Next update, I'll talk about some maps I made. :)
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Bboy on September 30, 2006, 06:42:20 pm
Well, actually I don't like any of those that much, because the only item is 'the golden ruppees' and that's...to put it bluntly lame.
I say the item thing because most zelda games(not fan games) have item titles, Wind WAKER, OCARINA of time, majora's MASK, Minish CAP, Four SWORDS adventures. I still think you should think about a different storyline because I really can't think of any names, and what do gold ruppees have to do with mm anyway?
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Hammer Bro. Mike on September 30, 2006, 09:03:18 pm
All I can say is that the Golden Rupees are very important to the land of Nebretta. I like "The Unwanted", it sounds cool.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Bboy on September 30, 2006, 09:16:54 pm
I think it's the best of those but I still think it should be an item.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Hammer Bro. Mike on September 30, 2006, 09:36:15 pm
Golden Rupees aren't items that you use it attack enemies with. You get these at the end of each dungeon. Like in Majora's Mask, you get the Mask Remains.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Bboy on September 30, 2006, 11:46:18 pm
Oh well then it makes sense but 'gold ruppees' just seems... :Psilly. How about crytsals or diamonds or jewels or pendants like Nintendo.
Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda: Working Title
Post by: Hammer Bro. Mike on October 01, 2006, 12:23:16 am
We wanted to make something totally new, that's all. Rupees are old, but Gold Rupees are new. :)

Post by: Bboy on October 01, 2006, 03:30:46 pm
Well actually no I am pretty sure there were gold ruppees in MC.

The fact that you have to collect ruppees sounds like Tingle RPG to me.
Diamonds are new. :D
But hey it's your game.

Here is a sample of the story (not the real intro):

In the land of Termina there is a legend...

About an ancient land hidden in the Mask of Death...

The land of Nebretta...

A land in constant war becasue of the evil mask...

There is only one way to save Nebretta...

The Rupee Rod...

(Hint: the mask of death is Majora's Mask)

Right say you buttons are V,B and N

Your Hero globals will be

global.____(ALL ITEMS!)
global.V=0
global.B=0
global.N=0

When you make the item select, set the global.N/B/V to a number. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE IT THAT YOU CAN'T SELECT IT ON 2+ BUTTONS!

E.g Roc's feather is 1

Then when you press V/B/N, you say if global.V/B/N is equal to _, you make the thing happen.

Okay?

First off, I am making a new logo for the game, the current on is just to show off what's going on right now.

Second, I am currently working on a layout for the game site. You will see updates here and there, so don't worry.

Once I got the logo ready, I'll get linkthemaster to change the current one. That's all for now.

The forums will be down for a little while. We were going to use phpbb but while I was switching to IPB, my hard-drive crashed and now I can't use my computer. I might have lost the IPB files, but I know where to find them.

I'll try to get my computer running again soon as possible and finish uploading the forums.

NOTE: We are almost ready to work on the demo, we just need to test a few more engines and then we'll let you know when a demo is coming. Don't bother asking because we'll let you know when it will be ready. It might be ready for Wii launch, we don't know.

We'll get some screens of the actual demo up soon. :)

We're back in production now. Me and Jelleye have been reprogramming everything. I have to make a heart, sword and sheild engine and then i can begin on the game.

Hmmm... I dont like the way this is looking. The graphics are really scrappy and the colours don't compliment each other. Nonetheless, I wish you the best of luck with your project LinktheMaster and I am sure that this game will be a success.  :)

The latest screen was just something to test out the Rupee engine and some other bits and pieces.

UPDATE: I have finished thinking up the dungeons, items, and equipment. Unfortunately, we can't show you any of the items right now until we are close for demo one to be complete.

NOTE: The Rupee Rod site will be no more. Instead, I will have all information on my Zelda site coming soon. This will save space and bandwidth for the Zelda 383 server. :)

EDIT: The Rupee Rod site will be at my Nintendo site instead. It will be up soon.

I am probably going to switch the game over to Just BASIC, a programming language, for a better and faster game, which means I will start writing the engine soon.
