Infini told me off in a topic for doing rend-a-mod. It concerns me as I don't know what it means. So...

What does rend-a-mod mean?

I know it's kinda noobish but meh. At least Im asking. :)

Well, if you were "rend"ing a mod, you would be deeply cutting a mod with a sharp object...which is obviously against the rules :P

But if you were "rent"-a-modding, it means you were playing the part of a moderator whenever you are not.

I cracked up when I read first part of your reply, Dantz. But yeah. Also, if you aren't a mod and tell someone to stop rent-a-modding, you are essentially rent-a-modding as well.

I see nothing in the rules about that ;)

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

I still think admins requesting that users don't rent-a-mod is retarded... You obviously NEED rent-a-mods if your currently hired mods fail to do their job. Sadly, most mods "moderate" by topic title and don't go into topics regular users do... like I could post "The Legend of Zelda: Beta Quest comic strip being remade!" and have my post full of pron, and if a mod doesn't see "Pron in hurr, lofl!!!" in the title, and doesn't care about my old webcomic, they won't click it, and most likely won't even know my topic is full of porn until someone "rent-a-mod"'s it...

There is a report button for a reason.

Not only that but there is also nothing rent-a-mods can do.
They can't lock topics if there is pron in there, they just add posts.

Well, that being said, there ARE good "rent-a-mods" that go on to become actual mods... I've always been a fan of no mods, honestly... Most rule-breaking topics are created out of SPITE for mods, so when there's no mods, there's no spite... And thus, no bad topics :) That's at least been MY experience on my own forums.
