Majora's Mask and Phantom Hourglass...

When I played Majora's Mask I wanted an original game or a more true sequal to OoT.
Phantom Hourglass, I have not yet played it but it is a sequal to WW.
I really wanted an original Zelda game for the DS.

Don't get me wrong.  I still think both games are excellent!  I played a little of my Majora's Mask last night for my 64 because I never beat it.
Phantom Hourglass, I am hesistant to get it because of the pure stylus control.  I will end up getting it.

But, how do you feel about Nintendo making spinoffs instead of original titles?

I mean as in the sense they are a original...story.
Not continuations.  But as a whole nother zelda game not a sequal.

A sequel's not a spin-off, though!

There, I changed the title.  My bad. I'm sorry I wasn't clear on the matter.

Sequel - A game that is made to continue the story of the previous game. eg. MM or PH

Spinoff - A game not directly in the series but a side game kind of. eg. Tingles Rupee Land or Crossbow Training

Glad you cleared it up though. And yes. I do enjoy Zelda Sequels. I enjoy Spinoffs a bit less usually but Sequels are usually just as great if not greater than the original.

Look at PH and MM...they both have very little to do with their respective prequels...they just sort of use the backstory to not have to explain everything in the game.

Majora's Mask? Not original? Get out of here. If Majora's Mask were a continuation of the Hero of Time's travels in Hyrule, it would have been more of an expansion to Ocarina of Time, and it would have been crap. Majora's Mask was fantastic, all it has in common with OoT is that it features the same Link, otherwise it's pretty much original.

Phantom Hourglass doesn't look as creative as Majora's Mask but it does look pretty damn good. The stylus controls look like they're going to work out great, I can't wait to test them out. I can't wait for it.

I don't think it matters whether a game is a sequel or not.  As far as I can remember, ALttP and MM and TWW AND TP are supposed to be sequels to OoT somehow, but the only two of those I really like a lot are MM and TWW.  For the most part the other two are filled with dungeon crawling and have little to no side-quests, and not as interesting characters, but they should all be good or bad because they are sequels.  Oh wait...

yeah, MM is really different from OoT, different items, different songs, the only similitudes are the NPCs and Link thats all.

Well, you can't really doubt that they are related storywise, with the Zelda flashback and all, and Link supposedly looking for Navi.  But TWW and TP have a lot more connections to OoT, I guess.

You do know half the games are sequals right?

I like Majora's Mask. I like Phantom Hourglass.

Heck, even Zelda II isn't so bad as to be called a straight-out failure. Seriously!

Now... What would Link's Awakening be considered...? (It'd be a side-story, actually, ;P)

It depends, i dont mind a sequel on the same console, but it seems annyoying that to play the wind wakers sequel you have to buy a DS...
