Do you guys remember the free rice game? This is just like that

You play the game and each time you answer a question correctly you donate 1 spoon of flour. The flower is paid for by the ads at the bottom of the screen.

Anyway the purpose is to help get rid of world hunger

I'm just wondering what the current details of the wiki are.

Its been a long time since anything has been said about it.

I feel like it will be helpful with many things (like the zfgc super list) and should be started soon.

I think it would be a great idea to have a list of people in the community where they are grouped by what aspects of game developement they can take part in.

This will make it much easier for people who want to make a game to find people to ask for help.

for instance: if I wanted to make a game I wouldn't know who to go to for music, but with a list I could just look and know who to ask in seconds.

I think we just need a pinned topic, but I'm not sure which board to have the list.


Also the list could include what the people are currently working on.

I was browsing Jayisgames.com and they had a link to a game called Bonesaw. It's really fun.

It reminds me of the Kirby games (not sure, maybe it's the enemies and color choice) and megaman games (to a lesser extent).

I liked the other system better.

Now it takes making 20 topics to make 100 rupees. Before it just took 5 meaningful long posts.

This new system will highly inconvenience people like me who tend to post few times a day.

I feel like the other way was more balanced.

Entertainment / FARGO

So I just watched Fargo a few days ago.

For those of you who don't know, Fargo is a movie about a fake (kinda) kidnapping that goes wrong in Minnesota.

I think Fargo is a fantastic film.

The thing I find most interesting and fantastic about the film is how interesting every character is. Normally I would assume that these characters, who are from small(er) towns, would be boring people with different and ultimately (to someone from my persective) pointless lives, but thats not what it's like.

Every character in Fargo is incredibly interesting.

Anyway rent/buy it if you haven't seen it.

ALSO what does everyone else think about Fargo?

Graphics / [REQ] Vector tutorials - Wind Waker/Phantom hourglass esp.

So I just started using inkscape. I have no idea what I am doing.

I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers about vectoring, using inkscape, and the Wind Waker/ Phantom hourglass style.

Please don't just give a generic link to a tutorial site. I never have luck with stuff like that. Getting help from actual people is much more helpful to me.

I have attached the only piece of art I have done in inkscape.

NOTE: this topic is different to the other one I made. The purpose of the other topic is to show of  my vector work (I'll change the title once I have more than one piece). This topic is solely asking for help with the previously mentioned things. Please do not mess around with either topic. There will be a more distinct difference some time in the near future. Thank You.

Yeah I just downloaded inkscape. This is my first piece ever.

100 points to whoever can guess who it is.

Feel free to leave c+c and any helpful tips for using inkscape.

Edit:

I've decided I'm going to do my next project in art in inkscape (funny because it's a painting and drawing class). Very WIP (it's obviously not the picture with link).

Please give me some C+C. Just make note that MANY things that I want to be in the final version are not even slightly implemented. Thanks.

Oh I'm also working on a piece in WW style (I've just basically taken official art and used a line effect to get the major outlines and now I am tracing it in inkscape (so basically I'm not doing a whole lot of original stuff but whatever)). I'll work on it a little more (not even done with half of the lineart) and then I will upload it.

I've done a little more work on the skull. I would really love some feedback.
