King of Thieves / Re: Order of operations?
« on: May 02, 2011, 06:53:20 pm »
I'm not part of the team this time around, but one problem we had last time was version control. I might suggest using a version control system such as Git for code. Github (www.github.com) is a great tool. SVN is also good. There are more graphical-based version control systems available if you don't want to do things from the command line (at the cost of power and control).

Coding / Re: Catching Exceptions?
« on: March 17, 2011, 06:49:59 am »
Slightly unrelated, why are you using your own exception class? Java already has a useful exception for this purpose: the InputMismatchException, which is thrown when you attempt to read in some kind of token that is not in your desired format.

Greetings all! It's been forever since I've posted here, though I still occasionally lurk from time to time.

As one of the original programmers for this project, I just wanted to wish you all good luck. If you have any questions or need any extra help with small things here and there, send a PM my way.

1. Ocarina of Time
2. The Wind Waker
3. Majora's Mask
4. Twilight Princess
5. Minish Cap.

Sorry, this is the way it has to be.

So I just beat Crysis and thought it was balls-off-the-wall fantastic. Anyone else play it and if so, like it? I want to get some Warhead multiplayer matches going.
playing through the original crysis at the moment. I got it a couple of weeks ago, I'm up to

. Am I getting close to the end or only halfway?

You have a ways to go, but you are more than halfway.

I'm glad other people like it. People said it was only good beacuse of its graphics, but I think the non-linearity and the gameplay is fantastic. The aliens aren't campy, and the nano-suit makes you feel like an ultimate badass.

Entertainment / Re: Zelda Timeline
« on: July 14, 2009, 08:39:25 pm »
*Asks the moderators for a bit of leancy.

Ocarinahero10 is dimwitted nutcake that has to big an ego to know when something is pointless.

No really, I've seen dozens of theories and no matter how well thought out they are, the theories always contain flaws. Because the games are contradicting each other on some details. Additionally some asumptions need to be made, which is for every person different.

Everyone has his theory and many people have worked hard for it. I can understand that you want your theory verified by Nintendo. But when they say your wrong you just accept it and deal with. But you don't make a petition and try to force your theory down Nintendo's throat. It doesn't make Nintendo love the Zelda series any less, because his theory isn't accepted.

The timeline is something to be discussed by everyone and every theory has its flaws. Also the timeline, can be completely shuffled with each new installment. And if they don't connect, so what. Nintendo says each game is made as a new installment, so make your own timeline if you desperately need a timeline.

This. Nintendo>Ocarinahero10.

Agreed. I didn't post this because I like Ocarinahero10 (he is arrogant and stupid, and mentions how his timeline has "no flaws" and how he has done his "homework." Tool.), but rather, because Nintendo sent an actual response.

Timeline theory is silly in general.

Have you actually done anything else on this game since March, as in finishing the first dungeon?

Also confirmed on NBC, CBS, and the L.A. Times.

God, this sucks.

It pretty much solidified Pixar's place as the best movie-making company in the universe. Ever. I didn't think anything could beat Wall-E...but it did.

It was nice to see a kid who wasn't more mature and insightful than the adults, and an old man who wasn't the most likable person. THe people were actually three-dimensional. Pun intended.

Coding / Re: Getting Started

I will help whenever needed and do more of the complicated GM programming if anyone needs help with this, but I'm going to be taking a backseat for the most part (mainly because I have little spare time lately, and also because I disagree with the direction the CP has headed).

Hey, I'm really, really happy you found this. I am distressed because I lost the original FLP and planned on finishing the piece.

Hope you enjoy it, Malon.

How it isn't at all the original game it was planned out to be. I'm going to help, regardless, though. Just being part of a team that actually produces a game...that's what I've wanted to do for a long time.

I can say now that with the way it's going, I'll probably taking a smaller role, anyway. I disagree completely with where the CP is headed, but I'll still help, regardless. THe open-source idea doesn't sound so bad.

I agree with the last post.

Also, maybe what 4Sword said about it being demoted to a team project is not necessarily a bad idea. It just depends on how we want to progress with the project.

I'm still here...I haven't been motivated very well or active, but I've kept tabs on what is going on. I think it's a whole staff thing. I hope I'll be allowed to continue to help program on future versions of this project, or continue working on the current version. It was just getting stuff done - I felt that the lack of motivation and outpouring of graphics to actually "make" the game, and indecisiveness, caused me to lose some motivation as well. I apologize.

Still here, as always, to lend my GM programming knowledge. I mean, we still have a very solid engine we can use.

Audio / Re: Taking requests for remixes/arrangements
« on: December 20, 2008, 03:39:37 am »
I feel like the instrumentation isn't great, and it's losing that beat of the drum. Also, I think there is too much reverb - it's hard to make out the melody, and the flute blends into the background.

Other than that, I think you're capturing a real orchestrated sound. This could turn out really good.
