Graphics / Re: Zelda's Custom Tiles

I really like the attention to detail and the completeness of this latest sprite for Koloktos; it really looks like it could be in the Minish Cap. Thank you for being such an amazing spriter.

Coding / Re: C++ Help

In terms of how you have variables defined, if your program is going to be using the variables very actively use what is closest to the "native type" - use ints instead of short ints. You save space sure by using short ints but your program performance goes down; when you compile your program and the logic is converted into lower-level instructions, the compiler will have to add specific instructions which cast the short ints into what it uses more natively.

Also, the play variable defined in the enemy actions - because you aren't changing the random_number anywhere else, the play variable is going to have the same value in it every iteration.

Congratulations on getting greenlit on Steam; really disappointed at lack of promised pizza though. Nah, but really congratulations and good job to you, DJvenom, Desgardes/Delco (???), etc. The hard work that you put into making the game great really shows.

I downloaded GameMaker Studio and did the free upgrade to Standard, and just today I received an email saying:

Quote from: YoYo Games

This limited time offer is available until Friday December 6, 2013 so hurry over to www.yoyogames.com and enter your GameMaker: Studio Standard Licence Key to purchase the world’s best 2D game creation software at a fraction of the cost!

YoYo Games

I do not know if I will do this but it is worth considering; not sure how I would use the added features. Maybe some of you received the same email?

No worries, the screens that come out about this project never fail to impress and it is good to know the dedication your team has to doing things right.

Other Projects / Re: Alttp - Horn of Balance [demo 16 out now!]

As with Chaos Rising, I haven't been able to play Horn of Balance's NCFC demo yet but wanted to say thanks for representing ZFGC and entering into the event. You have always put a lot of consistent, high-quality work into this project and I hope that others at the event can appreciate that too.

I haven't been able to play the new demo yet but just want to say thanks for representing ZFGC and congratulations on entering your project into this year's NCFC event. I'm a little shocked that no Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, or Minish Cap game made a showing - but I was happy to see a Zelda GB game make an appearance.

Updates / Re: NCFC 2013!
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:53:12 pm »
The NCFC event starts at 10:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time / 11:00 PM Central Standard Time tonight!

Oh and if you any of you haven't seen it yet, they have a new site color theme and a list of workshops they're doing are now available (three solid game development ones).

Ha, I saw that Pokemon Red and Green one and really liked the video but now that I know you guys made it I am skeptical as all hell over the authenticity of the secrets you reveal (like I wouldn't put it past Aivi Tran and DJvenom to be able to put together the music and graphics for the reveal of the Pokemon Red and Green stuff). That being said though the content of the videos is well put-together in a quick and entertaining format and it is definitely something I could continue to watch and subscribe to. Best of luck with later episodes!

Discussion / Re: Zelda: The Wheel of Fate : Download Link ?
« on: October 18, 2013, 05:43:05 pm »
I don't know what link you are trying, but I do not see it in the CDN. Based on the Completed board's topic about it, it sort of looks like Legend of Zelda: Wheel of Destiny may have had it's download link on the Game Maker Community website (if that is the link you are using, the Game Maker Community changed their website structure around around when Game Maker Studio came out so not much we can do there). Otherwise, someone may have downloaded the game; I can look through my files later today to see if I have it, but I more than likely do not.

Feedback / Re: ZFGC...what do you love?
« on: October 04, 2013, 05:11:44 pm »
One of the things that I love about ZFGC is when it has contests or events - my preference tends to be towards development-related events, but any kind of big event around the end of summer/winter or that celebrates days of/around a holiday-time are cool too. These usually give people a unique reason to be active on ZFGC. Are there any contests/events planned for the remainder of the year?

Otherwise, I really loved the coding/engines which appeared on here. It has been good to see how the King of Thieves project has its code open-source so that anyone can use and learn from it, but beyond that the Coding board under Resources has really had its activity stagnate. I remember the board once when it seemed like you could go to the board at least once a week and see a whole series of new topics. Albeit, a lot of those topics were requests or quick questions on how to do things, but some of them did show how to do something or were engines with creative implementation and/or a bevy of features. Are there things we can do now to sustainably increase the activity in the Coding board?

(I know that I bumped this topic after about 6 months worth of time, but much of what was discussed in here is still applicable in a recent context - so I hope that it was alright to do so).

Entertainment / Re: 2DS - Never got brought up here?
« on: October 04, 2013, 08:22:01 am »
I recently got a smartphone and play some games on it, and playing games that traditionally use the d-pad and buttons (namely the shoulder buttons) feels really awkward and imprecise. Well mostly platformers feel that way, RPGs are awesome-sauce in that I can progress through the game faster because I can bring it with me everywhere. I could go and buy a console controller to connect to it, but then I would have to lug that around everywhere too.

I think the Nintendo 2DS has a market for it, but long-term I don't get it (as the price of the 3DS goes down or people are still willing to wait to get a 3DS, the 2DS is less appealing). But yeah, as Kleaver said, it's mostly aimed towards selling Pokémon X and Y. And if someone buys it to play Pokemon, they'll probably buy other Nintendo titles to play on the system.

I do not know then. It would most helpful if you would would post the exact type of steps you attempt that produce this error for you. Additionally, it would be helpful to indicate what forum theme you are using and what type of attachment you are trying to upload with your post. Based on the information in your other topic, you could be experiencing a timeout due to your own Internet connection when doing an upload, the file you are trying to upload is too large, or the file is possibly in an invalid format - or it could be some other issue altogether.

To return to the topic after uploading an attachment you need to select the "Return to this topic." checkbox; it appears under the expanded "Attachments and other options" under where you type your post.

Entertainment / Re: Sword Art Online

I liked the first few episodes and some of the occasional episodes later, but the show gets awful. The whole show becomes nothing but a harem for Kirito. Every time a new female character is introduced, it was as if their sole obsession was Kirito. Additionally, the deus-ex-machina stuff is abused to all hell when it comes the two main plot-bosses of the series; well the first time was sort of alright, but the second time, really seemed forced. I liked the first season bosses though and the base of the world tree parts of the second season.

I really like the tile-work you did (makes the world feel like it could turn into something explorable), it complements Sahittam's engine features well. Not too sure of the story yet; it's one of those too early to tell what the story is going to morph into.

It's sad to see something like this end, but thank you Team Dekunutz for the work that went into the project. Like Miles07 said, hopefully this will assist others in the creation of continued and/or new ideas.

While I can't speak to the previews you may have, the initial image you posted could use some work. It has glaring pixel artifacts and the lack of blending around the subtitle "A Hero's Destiny" seems kind of sloppy; e.g., if you made that in MSPaint you would have been able to have it transparently placed to where it wouldn't look like it was placed in a rectangular box like that.

Otherwise, welcome to the forums. I saw in your user title description that you are into Game Maker. There are people in the Coding boards who can help you with that if you need it. Oh, though, are you making the project in LTTP, Minish Cap, or some other style? There are a lot of graphical resources too here which may assist you in aspects of your project creation.
