Okay, tell me if this looks better.  Here's the old one:

...and here is the edit:

I also added a bit more depth to the lamp version and rounded the bases a little more.

Hmmm, they could use some more detail. The wood for example.

Add more shades and contrast. It looks too dull at the moment.
Nice concept though

I'm not too good at spriting, so what do you think I need to do to the street lights?  If you'd like to, you can show me what you mean.

Thanks!

I've been wanting some of these for a while now, so I made them last night in Paint.  All they need is some slight shading here and there.  Credit me if you want to use them :P

As always, comments are welcome :)

I agree with you on the HUDs in commercial Zelda games being sleek and small...but look at it this way:

N64's OoT had the following:

a button for the sword
a button for actions
3 buttons for items
a button for Navi (command only)

All I did was add an extra button for items, made the command for Navi (fairy has different name in my game), and created a new button for shoe commands.  So really, I didn't add that much more to my game that Nintendo did not technically have in the first place :P.

The four purple buttons are for inventory items, the yellow button is the sword.  The red button is for actions, such as 'push', 'pull', and 'open'.  The blue button is for the faerie (Navi command in OoT).  And the green button is for shoe commands (such as when Link wears the pegasus shoes, it'll say 'run'.  While he's running, the command will change to 'kick'.  If he wears the magic shoes and he's underwater, the command will toggle Link's ability to 'walk', 'swim', or 'surface'.  Since I plan on making my game really huge (not just playing in Hyrule), I wanted more buttons to make use of the many items you'll find along the way.

Many of you said the HUD was too big and it needed a better font.  How about this one, then?  The buttons are the same size they were before--with the shading, and they have the LttP font.

I need an MC Town gate (like the one from Hyrule City) in LttP Style.  Can someone sprite me one?

Thanks!

Well, here's a betamockup of the HUD before I added the bubble shading.

...and another, the second edit to my HUD...

...and here's a mockup of the new HUD:

Okay...let's compare:

The old one (with the font nobody liked)

and the edit:

Tell me what you think....is it better?

BTW...if you visit my site:

you'll know why there are eight buttons.  I've decided to give players 4 inventory items to use instead of 3 (like in OoT).

Tell me what you think.  It's finally the way I want it, and it's perfect (IMO) :P

I have a request:

Could you make me a 4-directional sprite sheet (don't worry, it's small) of Link swimming underwater in LttP style, using Nintendo's Link?

you can have another zoomed out view if you use gm6. but that doesnt look too good though

Well, right now I'm trying to make a set of tiles for a minimap using the Graal Map Editor...bnut it takes so long to do it that way.

Graphics / Minimap Generator?

Does anybody know if there is a such thing as a minimap generator?  I'm looking for a program that can take a level (made from LttP overworld tiles), and convert it into a minimap (using the LttP map tiles--like the ones you see when you view the overworld maps in the game).

I may be using this for BoL, because I actually like this better than my last HUD.
Here it is:

And a mockup to show how it'd look in the game (semi-transparent, ftw).

C+C?

Me likes!!!  Can I use the orbs for my HUD??

Graphics Requests/Archive / [Solved] The perfect icon to use in my HUS
« on: August 22, 2006, 01:06:03 pm »
I found the perfect button for my HUD.  In Windows XP (Internet Exploreer, the back and forward buttons (the green ones with the arrows) would be perfect!

If anyone could remove the arrows from them, I'd be able to use them for the HUD.

Can someone do it?

If at all possible, I'd like you to try and create the equipment sub menu from OoT (including Link's full body profile) and try to do it in either LttP-or MC-style.

Yeah, its ok. But its mostly just a mirrored image and the middle part with the bricks where they connects really doesnt go with the perspective at all.

Thanks, Kleaver, but I had intended it to look mirrored :P  As far as the stone bridge and 'odd bricks' in each of the bedrooms, I need some tiles for that (the tiles I used were merely beta).  I also need some decore, like maybe some tapestries and some more descent-looking staircases for the spiraled towers (the two rooms that say X4).  All-in-all, I like this level and hope everyone else will in my game.  Since the first time you see this level is in epilogue 2 of my game (yes, there will be two epilogues...in which you will briefly assume the role of Zelda---the main reason this level was created).  The other will of course be Link...but I won't spoil that epilogue :D

Anyway, if you or anyone else wants to decorate the rooms in this level, please let me know.

Thanks!!

It looks pretty good, except that has been resized by the forum.

If you click and drag it into another browser window, or into a paint program, it'll resize :)
