All this is avalible here:
http://yoyogames.com/gamemaker (http://yoyogames.com/gamemaker) or at www.gamemaker.nl (http://www.gamemaker.nl).
That's all I'm saying, the rest is up to you!
Well, except one thing...the Admins now need to add a GM7 emot :D!

-
Well, if it is, then you will have to find another avatar to steal. >_>

GM7 was meant to come out on the 15th. Where the hell is it?! YoYo Games is gonna pay for these !@#$% delays.
-
Can't wait for "GM7 Pro"
lol rolls off the tounge, dontcha think?! ;)
-
No it wasn't... I have it right here. It's red.
Not the icon for the download, talking about the icon for the forum topics.
GM5:Red
GM6:Blue
GM7:Should be Green or Gold
and actually, the mid of the month was the 14th cause there is only 28 days in Feb.
-
The official GM icon is always red, but Forum Icons needed to be colour coded because the digits were too small to notice.
-
oh...guess im going to have to stop using gm 5.3 :)
-
Well, if it is, then you will have to find another avatar to steal. >_>

-
I know that many of you are anxiously waiting for version 7.0 of Game Maker and also for the new YoYo Games site. I am sorry to say that there is a slight delay but we are all working very hard on finalizing things.
The problem is that a number of things have to be ready at the same moment: the new version of the software (this is actually finished), the new website, and the new payment mechanism. In particular the last takes more time than we hoped.
I cannot yet give a firm release date but it will be soon. Please be a bit more patient.
Mark
Sorry guys!
But I'm going to make a bet with some random street-person that GM7 will be out...before the end of Alberta's weekend this week...
...That's right, in Alberta (Canada) we get Monday off on account of 'Family Day.'
-
Eh, everybody on earth has delays they dont expect. Who cares.
-
Eh, everybody on earth has delays they dont expect. Who cares.
Was that more negative than positive? I can't believe my ears!
-
Err, I was just trying to say that even the most talented teams on earth have delays :P.
-
Meh, I'm sticking with my 5.3a.
^__^
-
Update, btw, the official date is released 23rd (RELEASE DATE OF RELEASE DATE)
-
A release date with a release date?! Why can't he just upload the exe and get it over with? :P

He? Well, if you haven't heard, Mark Overmars teamed up with a "company" called YoYo Games (http://yoyogames.com) (I know, corny as hell...the owner/founder is the former leader of Xbox Europe). So now, there's a whole bunch of new shabizzle. Things like, YoYo Games is going to be doing all the transactions and whatnot (which is going to be done differently then the previous versions).
They're also going to be 'moving' the GMC to a new forum on YoYo's server. And I think you'll be able to host your games on their site (meaning no crappy and slow hosting websites to wait for), and some other stuff. I think you can check the website...
-
Oh. So he (they) 's holding it off until that other stuff is prepared for it?
-
Mark finally gave into an over-generous offer. He's bloody rich now. Hopefully this won't be the downfall of GM.

Here in Sweden we get all of next week off, and no it's not spring break, spring break is in about a month.

Here in Massachusetts we get all of this week off for "February Break". :P

Heh, I live in NH, just north of you O_o We get next week off.
God, they better hurry up...
-
Oh. So he (they) 's holding it off until that other stuff is prepared for it?
lol I think I forgot to say the most important part. Marky said that everything needs to be done at the same time...everything is done now except for the transactions on the website.
-
well its the 23rd, is the date announced?
-
well its the 23rd, is the date announced?
Uhm, it's the 22nd still? But it's going to be released tomorrow! YAY!
-
Where I live, it's been the 23rd for 2 hours and 5 minutes XD Why hasn't the date been announced yet? j/k
Damn I need sleep :P

Release date is on the 28th, it's final. That's next week Wednesday.
GameMaker 7.0 launch date
February 23rd, 2007
We have listened to you and have decided to launch Game Maker 7.0 before the YoYo Games site is fully functional. So we are very pleased to announce that Game Maker 7.0, the new version of Mark Overmars??? Game development tool, will be available for download on YoYo Games website (www.yoyogames.com) on Wedesday 28th February (GMT).
As many of you have already downloaded the Beta version of GM7, you know that it is packed with a list of new features that will help you create even more powerfull games.
Soon after that we will launch the fully functional YoYo Games website with a ton of community based features for you to find, play, make, and share your passion about games. We are in the final stage of the site development. Stay tuned on the GLOG and we will let you know how we progress.
We -at YoYo Games- want to thank you all for your patience and for your support. We all look forward to next week and to hear from you.
Michel
-
God damn, about a month of no GM work is driving me insane. I can't wait to get this baby runnin'. 28th, hurry up.
-
only 4 more days!!!
-
I predicted this, lol. He's releasing it on the last possible day of February.
-
I predicted this, lol. He's releasing it on the last possible day of February.
Haha, you're right! He said early Feb...he was only half-lying. :)
EDIT: Only 21/2 days left until Wednesday!
-
Hey I just figured something out!
Sandy at Yo Yo Games said that GM7 is going to be released tommorow. When people say that, they usually mean at 12 midnight. Except, she said it was coming out Wednesday, in UK time. So for anyone here in North America, we're going to be getting it earlier in the day than UKers.
So westerners like I will probably get it by 6 or 7 tonight, is my point. But I'd be stupid if I was saying that we are getting it 5 hours before UK.
-
Release is 5pm London time. Gah. I'll be asleep.
-
UPDATE!
GM7 is being released at 5:00 PM UK time...so that leaves us about 2 hours to go!
-
It's released but i can't get it, the site is sooooo slow right now >_>
-
Yeah, it's here. I think the server is a bit less clogged now, so it should be faster to download. :)
Go to the first post for infos!
-
Got it!!! WOOT now i'm waiting for my reg key to come in my email >_> who knows how long that'll take.
-
D:
I'm devistated! DAMN! I lost my fricking GM 6 key!
Friggen eh! :(
-
Okay, since YoYo Games is still down ( <_< ), here's a mirror: http://www.gmrealm.co.uk/Mirrors/gmaker.exe (http://www.gmrealm.co.uk/Mirrors/gmaker.exe).
-
God... it sucks.
It's just GM6 with a few errors fixed, a link to YoyoGames on the editor, and you have to be online to enter your reg code. Which means I can't install it on my other computer.
-
freakz
-
I guess I can wait until I find a virus-free registry changer thingy made specifaclly for the program.
-
The only useful feature I can find are the room transitions. :P Plus, I have to actually buy it now, as some features I was using "Require Pro", and thus generate errors.
-
Is the encryption improved in this version? in Game Maker 6.1 and all previous versions. You can easily see somebody else his codes with certain programs. You could also change variables I only really care if this is improved in Game Maker 7.0
-
Wow, this is exactly like Game Maker 6. I'm sticking with 6...
-

That's what I thought. 6 doesn't have the obtrusive YoYo Games logo on it too >_<. It could at least be smartened up and not cropped off. There's a few advantages to 7, but nothing that will make me want to use it any time soon.
-
ehhh...w/e, i have a gm6 key so i upgraded to 7 for the hell of it.
-
I can't upgrade my key how many og you has?
-
I have my 6.1 key...what do I do with it to make it 7?
-
Go to the enter reg key menu, and then enter it.
-
Finally... OoL work can resume. Nothing majorly new, but who gives a !@#$%, VISTA support.
-
It'll be good to get back to programming now that 7 has been released though. We all know what we've gotten, so we can move onto the important business of actually making games :P
-
Out of the box .png support = win. No more conversion scripts for me! Other then that it's just GameMaker 6.Yoyo
-
Nothing majorly new, but who gives a poo, VISTA support.
Indeed. That alone would have been worthy of a new version in my eyes. After all, it won't be long before everybody is using Vista, just like happened with XP.
-
Oh no !
How do i download ?! :'(
There are 2 Changes in the Object Properties !
Why ? WHY ? :'(

Are you registered at the Game Maker forums, and do you have a registered copy of Game Maker already?
-
Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ................................................................................. no
-
I think I'll stick with Game Maker 6.1...
I may switch to GM7 later when I get my hands on Vista.
-
Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ................................................................................. no
Then just download it from this page:
http://yoyogames.com/gamemaker/try
Simple. :)
-
I would advise that we all stick with 6.1 for now until they get things fixed, you can't even register your copy of gm7 yet!
-

I did.

I did.
As did Luke (hawthorneluke), I was talking to him when he did it.
Perhaps you've got a problem on your side, rather than their side?
-
Or maybe he didn't try it yet, just he likes circulating rumors which aren't true. >_> Unless it's what they said, but then it's probably not your fault.

Who?
-
i like the make your own transitions feature and the downside it requires more out of your computer i think personnaly it should stay making 2d games and stop moving forward to 3d becuse by then it would cost 60 bucks and would require alot out of your computer and frankly i cant get a new comp soon so im stuck with 5.3a and might i say it rocks
Note their site is still buggy it wont let me claim my gm forum user name :'(

Mine registered just fine O_o
-
You know what's cool? It is online registration, but you can use the same reg code on 3 computers!
Dayjo: DON'T ask for illegal software again, it's against the rules.
-
For me at least, when you click on Enter Activation Code, the box is a red X. I had to go Show Picture, and all of a sudden a giant form appeared O_o.
-
Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ................................................................................. no

Simple. :)
I dont want to pay !
-
you don't have to. There's a button that says "Download Game Maker 7 here". Just click that. You don't have to pay.
-
I download the Lite yet ! ::)
-
I download the Lite yet ! ::)
Yeah, it's the Lite version. :P
-
Damn, the fade room transition is horribly laggy. I'll stick to my custom.
-
You wanna email me your custom fading transition. I'd kinda like it for my game. ;)
-
It isnt that hard to make. Black image, image_alpha, alarms. If you want it badly just request it in the programming section.
-
Eh, true. Never thought of it like that. :P Okay, I don't need any help with it then.
-
I just noticed: They kept the logo colour red! Darn!
Well, I guess it's the same old red that we've seen about a million times with a 7 on it for the emoticon.
-
We should make the icon green to match the YoYo Games site.
-
Ah, at last, 7.0 is out. I guess I'll be downloading when I finally get a new laptop charger and get off of this slow-as-s**t Win98 computer.
-
oh...I'll stay with gm6, I'll wait until they add something better.
-
oh...I'll stay with gm6, I'll wait until they add something better.
WTF? Why? It's now Vista compatible, and fully supports .gm6 files! There is NO REASON not to upgrade!
-
lol and it barley works on my comp -.-
-
lol and it barley works on my comp -.-
But GM6 does?
-
yes, gm6.1 works but gm7 goes really slow.
At least on my comp.
-
Be warned, the EXE size is 1-2mb larger, but the loading times are halved.
-
oh...I'll stay with gm6, I'll wait until they add something better.

Most of us don't have Vista.

Most people will soon.

pardon me for such a n00bish question.
what is vista?(why I dont know, well...work all day and when I get home I just make/edit sprites and make games, dont really surf on the internet that much.)

The new version of Windows.
-
oh ok, thanks.
Still I'll stick to gm6, so gm7's good thing is that is compatible with vista? o_0
-

Well, one day, Vista will become standard like XP is now. So it is better to develope your games for Vista now then to port them later.
-
I suggest that you at least release a version of your game with the EXE created in GM7. Some of us (yue and I, for example) cannot run 6.1.
-
I'm disappointed for many reasons by GM7, only a small one being system requirements. I'm going to stick with GM6.1 for a while, including probably ZFGCCP and my own game, before moving over to GM7.
-
hate the system requirements <.< its should really stick to making 2d games and stop trying to make 3d because no ONE person is ever going to complete a good 3d game 8)
-
It's only meant for 2D it says that in the manual, Mark hasn't touched the d3d functions since he made them and he doesn't plan to either, Also I've found GM7 to be invaluable when it comes to developing my game. It allows me to reduce file count and size by enabling me to use alpha channels so my game which was probably going to be over 40 megs may be considerably reduced due to that fact (i use Alpha channels for shadows).
3D Graphics
This functionality is only available in the Pro Edition of Game Maker.
Game Maker is a program meant for making 2-dimensional and isometric games. Still there is some functionality to create 3-dimensional graphics. Before you start with this though there are a few things you must understand.
The 3D functionality in Game Maker is limited to the graphics part. There is no support for other 3D functionality. Once you start using 3D graphics you might get problems with other aspects of Game Maker, like the views, depth ordering, etc. The functionality is limited and has low priority to be extended. So don't expect support for 3D object models, etc.
When you use the 3D functionality, there are a number of other things that can no longer be used.
You cannot use background and foregrounds in your rooms anymore. (The reason is that they are tiled to fill the image but with perspective projections this no longer work correctly).
You cannot use the mouse position anymore. The mouse will not be transformed to the 3D coordinates. You can still get the position of the mouse on the screen (in the view) but you will have to do calculation with this yourself (or not use the mouse at all).
You cannot use tiles anymore. Tiles will most likely no longer match up correctly.
Collision checking still uses the 2-d positions of the instances in the room. So there is no collision detection in 3D. Sometimes you can still use this (if you use the room as a representation of a flat world (e.g. for racing or FPS games) but in other situations you have to do things yourself.
All 3D functionality is through code. You must be rather fluent with the GML language. Also you must really understand a lot about how Game Maker works otherwise you will run into trouble.
You must have some basic knowledge about 3D graphics. In particular I will use terms like perspective projections, hidden surface removal, lighting, and fog, without much explanation.
There is no 3D modelling in Game Maker. Also I do not plan on adding support for loading 3D models.
You must work carefully to keep a reasonable speed. Also, things are not really optimized for speed.
If this did not discourage you, read on.
-

i have xp because vista sucks... ( they said you cant install xp anymore... lol what am i using then? xDDD )
-
You went back to XP? I dont like you anymore =(.
-
for a long time now... its right now better to use xp...
-
You went back to XP? I dont like you anymore =(.
Hey Aaron, using the new GM7 extension feature add window dialogs to OOL. They look more professional than your regular GM6 game dialogs.
-
Maybe...
-
lol its funny that Mark Overmars tried to protect ilegal GM registered with the whole Yovo games thing. Because a friend of mine found already an cracked exe for GM7 and it works. :D
-
It's helpful, not perfect, like security for all objects available on the internet. Mark wants profit for his work; Not a crime.
-
Well, it's never going to stop it. If I had the ability to learn to crack EXE's, I would.
Without a doubt. *Goes off to a dream world*
-
Well I decided to use *cough* alternate *cough* methods to work on my game until Softwrap gets off their lazy arses and fixes my registration. >_> I got an email once saying it was fixed and low and behold it wor.... wasn't >_<
