Title: [WIP] The Legend of Zelda : Bloodlines
Post by: Mirby on May 15, 2007, 05:41:32 pm
STORY
Link needs to gather the pieces of the Triforce of Courage , or the 8 medallions (haven't decided yet). However, only four exist in his time. He needs to go to the Chronos Temple (AKA Temple of Time) after gathering those four in order to travel 100 yrs into the future to gather the recently excavated remaining 4 medallions/triforce shards in the previously unaccessible temples. Afterwards, he must defeat Ganon.

TEMPLES AND AREAS
Basically, the temples in the present are the Forest Temple, located in the Dorelado Forest; the Fire Temple, found at Rapymid Peak in the Ledosation Mountains; the Water Temple, at the bottom of Anookell Lake; and the Wind Temple, on the Floating Islands of Wonteregog. The future temples are the Shadow Temple in the town of Niquetett; the Earth Temple, found on the Teltob Plateau; the Spirit Temple found in the Solut Desert; and the Light Temple, in Alcomo Valley. Towns include Niquetett, Rabunu City, Clepraville, and Yelkes. The Chronos Temple is found in Bluestone Village(present)/Bluestone City(future).

FEATURES
-Time travel w/ Ocarina of Time
  -Global warming!
-In the future, the two bottom rows of the map are now completely submerged. However, this leads to the bonus "Hero's Cave" where you can get the Gold Ring, Master Sword, and Mirror Shield.
-Some places from the present are now dried out.
-Two complete overworld maps! With sub-areas!
-Bonus dungeons with extra items or endurance battles!

MISC.
Screenies as soon as I can work on it some more. But I'm using Zelda Classic v2.10, and a Gameboy Zelda tileset. I may upgrade to an LttP tileset sometime. Tell me what you think.

It sounds sweet, but I think it'll be fairly limited in ZC. Can't you only use 16x16 sprites, and only Zelda 1 bosses? Either way, make it happen man!

I'm going to use the icons from the medallions in OoT for each temple. However, I would like custom sprites for the Wind and Earth medallions. I'll ask in the Graphical Arts board. This confirms I'm using medallions.

DUBLPOST! Sorry, but I will work on this over the weekend.

[edit 5/29]
I worked on it, and although there is no demo, or screenies, I do have news. I changed it to an LttP tileset, and it's working great. But I found out that ZC doesn't cooperate with Windows Vista. :(  Oh, well.  But the basic tiles are placed. And text is working. So news whenever I can get it to you.

Does it count as a triple post if the last post was 7 months ago? If so, TRPLPOST!

Good news, everybody! I got a laptop for Christmas with XP, so progress has resumed!!! I had to restart, as I forgot my password, but all the music loops nearly flawlessly, as + or - one position will screw it up on the ones that aren't perfect. Screenies soon, I promise.

The cursor is the only original thing in my game. Although the idea may have sprouted from LttP. It was like this ( ) originally. And the tileset I'm using is LttP. So there. An LttP style game.

I guess it doesn't look too bad right now. I would like to see some more areas though with more detail just to see how far along you are with this. Good luck though buddy!

No to all of those...
You can have a 2x2 Link (where 2 is two tiles of 16 pixels, obviously) if you feel like it. If you want anything bigger, you have to script it.
You can ahve the most awesome custom bosses, as long as you know how to script. It is possible to make CB's without scripting aswell, but it's a bit more work.
ZC is not limited... at least not anymore.
Anyways, sounding good!
You should work on your screens a little bit more and you should almost ALWAYS cover up your corners... looks MUCH better in ZC ;)
As for your ground, try hammering on some more details, like grass that move in the wind and rocks and paths, maybe?
Bushes is always a good thing too, along with some more plant life.

Sounds good, maybe like it might take too much effort. Don't get ahead of yourself Metakirby.  :P

Why is there global warming in the game? Is there evil factories or something? Eh, it's probably not that big a deal.

Nah, I just use it as an excuse to raise the sea level in the future by one or two screens. Like this:

       _____
------/  HC  \-------

HC is the Hero's Cave! Almost done with the first demo!

Isn't Global Warming a fake?
If something could ruin the Ozone that easily, we'd be dead by now.

As for the game:  Not too bad, but i'm not a big fan of Zelda Classics, i'll see how it progress.

Like I said, the Global Warming thing in my game is mostly a joke. I just say it to explain why the water is higher in the future (and why an entire town has been engulfed by it)

There's inconclusive data on Global Warming, but it's leaning to the side that it's probably true. It's most likely not fake.

Well, still it's a cool idea. Maybe you should have a glacier in the past, and then it's melted in the future. Because glaciers lead to the ocean (duh).

Nah. Water just rises a lot for no apparent reason. I'll upload my map plans if you want to check 'em out. Probably post 'em in the WIP section.

For a great example. Type Hero of Dreams into the Zelda classic search engine for quests.

Its like what Kylink said, its not fully proven but its looking like it is. But regardless if it isnt a fake anyway, were in deep !@#$%. lol.

I like the idea of the flood actually, i think it'll give the over world something interesting.

Not a flood... Download the plans I posted and you'll see what I mean. And I need to start that quest too.
