Title: [pre]Legend of Zelda Oracle of Secrets[/pre]
Post by: LegacyoftheOracles on December 07, 2007, 12:10:03 am
There have been many imitations but none like this.

Link has been called into a new land to protect a mystical power, but he arrives out cold.  When he awakens he is in the care of a writer named Farore.  After a short discussion with her a stranger suddenly walks in, requesting help with a strange cauldron that they found.  Faroe goes to help them and the stranger without warning the stranger throws the cauldron on her head.  *Flash of Light and the stranger is gone after an evil laugh and short monolog* Farores memory has been erased so therefore she no longer is the Oracle of Secrets.  Evil is now free to roam the lands, Hidden horrors are unleashed, and all the while Farore thinks she is a chicken (kidding about that last part.)

Charachters:
Link- The Hero of Time, called by the Triforce into this land (no name as of yet) to protect the Oracle of Secrets (http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/9635/linkwalkingyv0.gif)
Farore- The Oracle of Secrets, she is a skilled writer and has many books, however she can sometimes be too kind for her own good. (http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6320/farorewalkingdowniq8.gif)
Skevarn- Trickster of Night, he plans on lighting the Flame of Destruction by erasing Farore's memories and throwing the land into turmoil.

Weapons:
Book of Secrets: The chosen item of Faroe, you must find its lost pages hidden across the land
Pick Ax: It can break through bolders that bombs couldn't destroy
Bombs: Break through Walls,
Sword: The standard Zelda Weapon
Sheild:
Boomerang:  Throw it and, hello, it returns to you.
Seed Satchel: Your standard Ember, Scent, Gale, Pegasus, and Mystery Seed holder

Actually, let's be serious about this. Okay everyone?

Well, LotC, I'm going to be blunt.

This "story" isn't "NOTHING YOU'VE EVER READ BEFORE", it's super-generic and boring. And besides that, you have nothing else. No screenshots, no demos, no further ideas, not even a confirmation that you're working on something.

This is a horrible presentation.

I don't blame you though. It's your first time. You can learn out of it. And think about it more.

rather than starting new community projects we need to work on the one we started ages back. It has an absolutely brilliant storyline and great ideas, everyone just needs to dedicate themselves to committing to it.

i just wanted to say myself... when the people cant get one game started where they can do what they want, why should they have the abilitys to work on this kind of game?

Okay, so it starts off like Link's awakening and then Farore (you keep misspelling it and its bugging the crap out of me) gets hit in the head... with a cauldron? WTF, mate.
Title: Re: [pre]Legend of Zelda Oracle of Secrets[/pre]
Post by: LegacyoftheOracles on December 07, 2007, 07:37:38 pm
um maybe i should be less vague... the cauldron that was thrown on farore's head (like a helmet) erased her memories (a magically indused form of amnesia) afterwards the stranger laughs and reveals themselves to be Skevarn, Trickster of the Night.  By throwing the secrets of the land into chaos he shall light the flame of destruction (just pretend that Zelda wasn't used to light it).

It was also supposed to be Oracle of Secrets. ;)

I'd love to see this happen, the story is a bit confusing, maybe change the whole trickster of the night.

o.0 thats not true; at least the name of it isnt... Considering each of the games were named after the tree's and seeds + the respective plot, and didnt have "Oracle" in them at all in their original release, it would be impossible for that to be an original name for a game that didnt even finish production to make it to a localization team for a name :P The original names were---

"Nut of the Mysterious Tree: Chapter of Earth"
and
"The Legend of Zelda: Nut of the Mysterious Tree: Chapter of Time and Space"

I'd imagine the name for the third installment (cancelled due to the password system not working) would be something along the lines of "Chapter of Growth" or something

BUT! all of that technical crap aside, I think this game looks pretty neat, and I always like to see fan adaptations of what the third installment of the Triforce series was supposed to be like :D So I'll be watching this project develop like a hawk!

Lol, Mamoruanime, the third Oracle WAS named the Oracle of Secrets (not the game, but the Oracle herself).

In the Oracle games, Farore lived in the 2 Maku Trees, and specifically referred to herself as "the Oracle of Secrets".  ;)

Post by: Koh on December 09, 2007, 01:20:06 am
How did the topic jump from his supposed game to the origin of the third Oracle game ??? anyway, She constantly reffered to herself as the Oracle o fSecrets, so if anyone were to make a fan game of here, it should be something where you have to find secrets all over (Kingdom name) to find chunks (8) of the essences of Secrets to restore some new Maku Tree's strength to give you a seed to do whatever after that.

first attack is a lunge, where he will pounce on Link. This can be
evaded so Link can use his boomerang. The boomerang, if shot into the
mouth of the beast, will pry his jaw open. Link will then toss a bomb
into the mouth of the beast and take the boomerang back. Repeat 4 times
to defeat Fang.

Boss 2: Gerudo Leader (Ghost)

The leader begins by throwing her spear at Link. The shield can be used
to block the attack. Link should use the Pegasus Seeds to ram into the
leader, stopping her for a moment. This is enough time to cast a Secret
Seed, since your sword cannot damage a ghost. After being hit twice,
the Gerudo Leader will begin throwing fireballs at Link. These cannot
be deflected by a shield and must be evaded. Hit the leader three more
times to win.

Boss 3: Horned Horse

This boss is difficult. Start by shooting arrows at the horse's back
when he rams into the wall. (Dodge his charge) After three hits, the
horse will shoot several elemental beams from his horn. Fire will burn,
ice will freeze, and the last element will drain Link of two hearts.
At this point, the horse will not charge, so you must hurt him with
a Secret Seed. But how to cast one on him? Set a seed on the ground
in front of the horse and use your boomerang to send the seed into the
horse. Now use your sword to strike the animal. Repeat five more times
to win.

^^^Since this is a continuation of the Oracles story, it should continue with the traditions and themes of those games.

For instance, the ability to get one of the 3 mounts (Ricky, Dimitri, or Moosh).

The Noble Sword trading quest.

A "linked" game that includes spoilers Twinrova and then Ganon as the final boss end spoilers ,but of course this would have to be implemented differently than in the other 2 games, since it can't actually link to them.

And, each one has an original race. Oracle of Seasons had the Subrosians, and Oracle of Ages had the Tokay. If you can, you should incorporate a 3rd original race, since this would be a 3rd Oracle game. Of course, the races in the Oracles fit the theme of that game. The Subrosians were lava/fire based, and the Oracle of that game, Din, is named after the Goddess of Power (who is aligned with Fire). The Tokay were water based, and Nayru the Oracle is named after the Goddess of Wisdom (aligned with Water).

So, if you come up with an original race for this game, it would be awesome if it were plant/forest based.

Good to see some thorough planning with this, at this rate it might be equally as good as OOA/OOS, yet again another project I am looking forward to :).

Also you're including the use of rings...right?

I've gotten hold of Majora. He'll love this. Anyway, Subrosians are off the list now.

Subrosians
Tokay
D.........

Get it? Lol, just thought I'd throw it out there. But anyway, the new race should indeed be plant based. Does anyone know if the race names had a hidden meaning behind them? Like on PH, where the Cubus Sisters came from the word Succubus.
Title: Re: [pre]Legend of Zelda Oracle of Secrets[/pre]

^^^Well Subrosia comes from "Sub Rosa" which means "under the rose", which if I remember correctly means "underground".

So the Subrosians are very aptly named.

By the way, are you the same TP12 from IGN (who's currently using an account named "WULLLLL")? Because if so, hey man.  XD

a flower shows on their head. The color of the flower symbolizes social class.

Yellow Flower: Highest class. Leader of the Kyprosians.

Red Flower: The leader's most honored servants. Also termed as knights.

Blue Flower: The nobles. Nobles are like police. They keep the law.

Green Flower: Peasants. The lowest class. These are the normal Kyprosians.

Well, you should make the color purple for the kings since it is a royal color, hmm also you should make it so there is an item that change the map, like the rod of seasons or the harp of ages, maybe something that shift the day time. and in certain days you will find certain people.

Well if there was the rod of seasons, then the harp of ages, there should be a something of secrets...perhaps being involved with the usage of secret seeds somehow.

But that's only an idea and there are many great ideas coming from everyone here, just thought I would try my best helping out :).

Well, you should make the color purple for the kings since it is a royal color, hmm also you should make it so there is an item that change the map, like the rod of seasons or the harp of ages, maybe something that shift the day time. and in certain days you will find certain people.
Thats what the Book of secrets is

Bah, there's always editing to do when making a game. Anyhoo, we're ready to start now, yah? Who wants to cut up and animate sprites?

sounds good to me. Kyprosians though? Change the -sians suffix to something else so it doesn't share it with subrosians. Where are they from? Sprites? And the Book of Secrets reminds me of the Lens of Truth, but cooler because you can play it off as, "I'm not spying and trying to see the truth. I'm just reading," as opposed to, "What, this creepy magnifying glass with an eye on it? It's nothing." When it is. But all in all, sounds good. But think about this: Ages had 2 full-sized OW maps, Seasons had 2 maps, will this one have two maps?
