Title: ZOMG! Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core in 10 days!
Post by: Theforeshadower on March 15, 2008, 04:12:25 pm
I'm glad I pre-ordered mine.  Seeing as I have no money, Ima trade in all my DS and PSP games I never play...  Seeing as I found my DS Phat the other...I may just trade in my Lite(I would trade in my Phat, but age has worn of the serial number...lol).

I am stoked for this game!  BRING ON MY RPG GOODNESS OH GODDESSES OF THE ROLE_PLAYING UNIVERSE!

I'm pretty sure that the serial number doesn't matter for trading in stuff at Gamestop/EBgames/Software Etc...

Anyway, I'm sure I'll buy the game once I get a PSP.  However, I will need to buy GOW:Chains of Olympus first, (I've never even played FFVII so playing a spin-off won't be enjoyable until I play the original anyway).

Yeah it does, I have already tried...lol...That think I stole it.  I have had it since day 1 and played the !@#$% out of it...Don't they think it's possible to rub the serial number(and the whole back sticker for that matter) away?

Actually there, sir, it is going to be awesome...  I have watched so many in-game combat clips and most of the cg cutscenes that are translated.  This is going to be killer!  I expect in the least a 8.5/10 from every gaming site out there!

Wow, your getting excited over an FF7 spin off?

I agree, enjoy your crappy spin-off game. It just looks so bland and... fanboyish. Like, it doesn't look bad, but it looks very subpar, and just over all uninspired. It looks like all the other !@#$% Squeeny spits out.

The dull use of color puts me asleep just looking at that game... :-\

Just wondering, can you ever form a post that doesn't sound like something I'd mutter in sixth-grade gym class or that contains some sort of random 4chan meme? Seriously.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Swiftu here; even as a fan of the original FFVII, the new spin-offs are excessive. FFVII never needed a sequel, nor did it need its backstory fleshed out. Advent Children was a beautiful but dumb film, and this game will probably be pretty and maybe even fun but lacking the charm or gameplay of the original FFVII.

I'll agree FF7 isn't the best(by far, it's one of my least favourite Final Fantasies) and I'll agree that pretty much everything that's associated with it except for Advent Children isn't very good.  But I'll at least wait 'till I play the game to say it's crappy.  Colour-wise, they're trying to make it look dark, just like they did with FF7.  I, for one, like darker colours.

I realize they want it to have a darker look to it, but the art direction just makes me want to sleep. Let me give you an example; This games use of color isn't as smart as say Halo. While I hate the Halo franchise, I do commend it's use of bland, desaturated colors. Looking at Halo, I don't feel like sleeping.

Maybe It's just me, I've always prefered a lighter, more saturated look. Thats why I like to look at games like Dawn of Mana.

Have none of you !@#$% even followed this game?!

The in-game cutscenes are absolutely beautiful for the PSP....It works on the same basis as the Kingdom Hearts facial engine...
Come on...  You guys expect too much,I guess, damnit...  It's on the PSP...not the !@#$% PS3...You aren't going to have a life changing rework of FF7 with Crisis Core because it's on a handheld.  !@#$%, even the battle graphics are !@#$% sweet for the PSP.  And also, the story is deep for what it is.  The link between Sephiroth, Angeal, Genosis....  Sephiroth's rise to power and evil is going to be completely laid out...not just some gay rant in the basement reading books...

Maybe some you just don't understand...Then again, I can't blame you when the latest spin-offs have been retarded...(Dirge and Advent Children).

Hey, look at it like this, at least you won't be putting hours into a character that gets stabbed through the back...lol...Just one that gives you the most epic sword, saves your life, then dies....lulz

The problem is that FFVII did need to be fleshed out.

Your first run through the game, you don't understand wtf is going on. I call it poor translating, but even in japanese its hard as hell to follow :P

I like the backstory installments. Not so much the sequel installments. but yeah.

Did you read? Or did you just press "x" the entire time text was scrolling. I understood that game when I was 5!! 10 years and I have still memorized the story, I practically have a full game guide memorized in my head!

No, I read the entire script.

And I can assure you :P you may *think* you understood it, but theres always going to be some new element you're missing. I think it wasnt until my 3rd run that I understood it like the back of my hand

No, It's not just that. Look at the other series' there giving spin offs; Children of Mana, from the Mana series, sucked ass and I've heard the Valkery Profile spin offs were nothing special(Infact theres another one coming out on the DS).

It's hard to understand getting excited over a spin-off, let alone one by Squeeny because they ruin everything they touch. The direction of the company is just awful, the barely make any new games, and on the rare occasion they do, the cool looking ones don't get released outside of japan.

But, you know, if your an FF7 fan, go ahead and get it. Were not gonna' judge you! :P I just wish they would !@#$% stop the remakes/spinoffs.

(I've never even played FFVII so playing a spin-off won't be enjoyable until I play the original anyway).

Not that it matters much since Crisis Core is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII. This way, you play the games in chronological order. :/

Enjoy your crappy spin-off game.

I played it in Japanese. It is a good game. If you've been waiting for a good PSP game, this is it. (And I didn't like FFVII too much either- at least not as much as FFIX! BEST FF IN THE WORLD! :D)

Yes , Square is technically Milking FF7, but with Crisis Core, they did it the right way...It isn't even a sequal...It's a prequel.
From what I remember, Square is testing the waters with the battle system for it so they can see how well fan reaction is.  If it is good, they will implement some of the new combat into one of the FFXIII games...  I can't remember which one.

By the way, Final Fantasy VII is going to get remade...The little rumors about it is, then it's not, etc etc etc...  Well, once you beat Crisis Core a certain way it unlocks a CG movie with the words Continued in Final Fantasy 7...Now two things, yeah, it doesn't scream remake...but it heavily leans on it.  Why would Square go through the trouble of saying 'Continued in Final Fantasy 7"...  they plan on digging up old copies of FF7 for the PSX and recopying it for the PS3?  lol that would be retarded...  And I also don't think they meant for people to go out and buy the game from EBAY, becuase that's not getting making Square money...  so one day, that FF7 remake IS going to come out...lol

Give it faith!

*remembers...this is a ZELDA forum...it has haters...*

Anyways, I think that is highly unlikely.  You're reading too much into it.  It just means that the story is continued in FF7.  Your logic doesn't make any sense.

Whether his logic makes sense or not, Squeenix HAS remade/re-released every FF game UP TO 7 so far, hasn't it?  And they sure as hell would make a metric !@#$%-ton of cash from a FF7 remake.

They say they are not going to do it but it is there most anticipated in the franchise, they are working on it secretly. It will probably be released the same time as XIII in a year >_>

Yes, they'd probably get a butt load of money, but the first six games had reasons to be remade.  Except for 1.

2 was never released in America, so they remade it.  Same for 3, and 5.  4 had the wrong title and so did 6, and quite frankly FF fans were kinda pissed when the next FF they played was 7 and they finally realized they were missing some games.

OMG NOOB!!!

Sit down for a quick insight into the history of FF...

FF1 made it to the US...
FF2 did not until 2001 via FF Originsa for PS1
FF3 did not make it to the US until '06 for the DS
FF4 original came to the US in 91-92 as FF2...later was released on the PS1 as Final Fantasy CHronicles in it's original FF4 state - a US translation
FF5 never made it state side until FF Anthology for PS1 and later for the GBA
FF6 was released as FF3 in the US around 94 or 95 but was later re-released as FF6 in Anthology and a remake for the GBA...

Now FF4 has been remade for the DS with real time cutscenes and voice acting...no release date for US or PAL countries...
That Nintendo rep I talked to said that Square is remaking each FF upto 6 again for the DS as they did with 3 and 4...
He also hinted at a collaboration between Square and Nintendo to get FF7 unto a DS cartridge...
I never said it before becuase I thought you guys probably would call BS, but now I don't give a !@#$%...tell the !@#$% world...lol

Square would not include a To be continued line unless they had plans to re-release it...the new generation of gamer was not really able to play FF7 in 1997..granted some of us did at a young age...but many Americans and Europeans at the time still were not heavy into the FF style of RPG...We were into Baldur's Gate, Diablo, and couple other pc rpgs at the time...
So, Square would re-release FF7 to a "new" crowd so to speak.

Argh...my brain hurts now remembering all that useless rpg info...lulz

Now FF7 on DS would make sense because the DS is so popular and it would introduce FF7 to a much larger audience than it would on PS3, at least that's what I think because where I live, people would rather a DS in their pocket than a PS3 by their TV.  I love 3 on DS and I can't wait to play 5, as it is my favourite FF.

I'm not going to say you're lying, but to me it just seems silly to remake the game at all.

Yeah thats the one I had.
Again...no offense...NOOB!

That is not actually Final Fantasy 2....REPEAT WITH ME:It is not Final Fantasy 2...
The dumbasses in America at that time did not think that the ORIGINAL FF2 and FF3 in the late 80s and 1990 would do well in the American market becuase we were not into rpgs of that sort...We Americans were into D&D...So, Square decided to just release FF2 and FF3 in Japan...

1991 roles by...Final Fantasy 4 gets released into Japan...and with the rise of the SNES, Square decides it is time to release another Final Fantasy into the States...But, becuase of some jackass, it got named Final Fantasy 2 becuase they thought we Americans were dumbasses and would go ??? if we saw a game named FInal Fantasy 4 with no 2 and 3....see what happened there...

So, you never...never...never had a legit Final Fantasy 2 unless you imported a JAP NES and the Jap cartridge...

Blame translators and Stateside Square...lol

I agree with Mamoruanime, FF2 is a good game, one of my favourites.

Maybe if you're a masochist.

That 'level up' (lol) system is terrible. 8 still tops it in the worst FF list, but not by much.

I loved beating the !@#$% out of my own guys then winning the fight...gaining HP...Heal them in the overworld...then do it again for hours upon hours...Then select Attack choose to attack then when the next guy comes, cancel the previous attack but still getting my two points in the weapon...lol..

And 8....OMG -_-...That was the gayest !@#$% getting to level 100 then facing Omega Weapon at the end and watch him cast level 5 Death...I was like "WTF!!!??"

I really liked that system in FF2, and I didn't cheat. *glares at TFS*

Well, you couldn't do the attack cheat in the Dawn of Souls GBA version :(....

I still got my FF:Origins version...lol I actual forgot I still had.  Found it in the basement last night.
Too bad I turned in my Dawn of Souls Version :(

If you want to know how much of a fanatic I am to FF...Let me break it down:
I own the original Nes Final Fanasty
I beat a translated version rom of FF1 for the Wonderswan color
I bought and beat FF1 and FF2 on the ps1 Origins disc
I beat a translated rom of FF2j
I beat a translated rom of FF3j 3 times(I loved it and I wanted to try harder job partying)
I owned and beat FF3 remake for the DS
I beat the Final Fantasy 2 US rom
I beat the FF4 translated rom 4 times...I just loved it...lol
I owned and beat FF4 on the Final Fantasy Chronicles edition
I bought and beat FF4 for the GBA
I beat a translated version of FF5 rom and  mastered the Ninja class and Hunter class allowing dual wielding with the ability to X-cut allowing 8 attacks at once!(Can you say 9999 x 8 hits!)
My cousins owned the GBA remake and I beat that on a new save file
I owned and beat FF3US for the SNES back in the day
I later beat a translated version of FF6j(ff3us) rom
I bought FF6 for the GBA and beat it before my dog chewed it up(!@#$% dog!)
I bought FF7 in 98?  for the pc and beat it as my first FF game ever...
Later, I found out my Uncle had it for the PS, so I borrowed the PS copy to beat it...which I did MANY MANY times(over a dozen...no BS)
Right now I had a "cracked" copy of FF7 for pc called Ultima Edition
In 2001, when I got my PS1(those small white ones...lol), first game I got was FF8...beat it about 3 times
I bought and beat FF9 couple of weeks later...
Before I traded my PS1 in around 03, I bought and beat FF:Tactics(kick ass game!)
I first bought FFX-2 before I bought FFX, but I beat FFX 3 times before I really touched FFX-2
I beat FFX-2 once...couldn't stand to play through it again...though I heard the International version had better endings

Beat FF:Legends 1 and 3 for Gameboy
And beat Adventures(though it was technically a Mana game...lol)

FFs I never played/beat:
XI - Thought it was the gayest thing to have to pay monthly to play a lack lust FF title
XII - Waiting until I get another PS2 and for it to be like $10...I hate what they did to the combat(I played the demo version bundled with DQ8)
Legends 2 - I hated 1 bad enough,3 was very muched improved  lol
Crystal Chronicles - Looked okay but GBA required for multiplayer was gay....
Anthology - Never could find it

I have no life...

Right now I have been playing every DQ rom I can find to experience that side of Square-ENIX...

Don't let me talk about CAPCOM,KONAMI,TECHMO,NINTENDO or we could be talking about a shitload of games...AND I MEAN A SHITLOAD OF GAMES I HAVE BEAT.

Seriously, I grew up in the middle of nowhere with nothing by videogames...lol

Hmm, you talked about FF Adventure actually being the first mana game, but you didn't say anything about FF Legends 1-3 actually being the SaGa series.

My best friend just now decided to tell me that he has the japanese version of Crisis Core and has beat it, he says it's good.
