Indeed i updated it for windows update, turned it off because of the thunderstorm, now it doesn't turn on.

Since when does turning things off save them from thunderstorms? I had a satellite receiver and a Power Supply fried in a thunderstorm once.Taking the plug out of the wall would have been the Wright thing to do.

When my laptop wouldn't turn on, it turned out one of the RAM modules had burnt out. I had to remove it to get the computer to turn on.

Take it to like a ma and pa computer place. They will put a working power supply in it to see if that is the problem.
If not, then they would do the ram and so on and so forth.
-
took out a stick of ram
no power
replaced it with the other stick
no power
might just call my dad tomorrow and see if he can check it at his house
meh thunder storm again
-
Just want to update.
My dad fixed the computer, it was the power supply.
-
@ali: yes.
@FISSURE: Power going out is one thing. Don't forget about spikes.
-
open the computer up, and turn it on. If the fans turn on, then you have a mobo problem. if they dont turn on, you have a power supply problem.
