Not to seem like an ass or anything but I've never really been fond of the look of your sprites...they just don't look right. Still you seem likely to complete
one a game unlike myself.

Also, I finished the basic sword sprites. I may get opinions or send them to a sprite expert as Im not too sure about the upward animation.

I don't like that it is so narrow and the left/right walking animations are screwy.

I can understand that. Let me ease this problem for you. The reason it's narrow is because Im trying the make the sprite in proportions to the head. So it looks right. The animations are a little bit harder to understand but they go in a specific order. Does this help?

Hey guys I have a long list of updates.
Firstly, I've got enough designs to start work on a demo
Secondly, Im looking for SFX and Music Composers so if you can help, please PM.
Thirdly, I have decided that you can start with one of 6 professions
-Traveller
-Fighter

-Mapologoist
The downside is that they will at this time have a max of 2 skills until the next demo.
Fourthly, I have designed the world of Orenna and it's even bigger than I first planned!!! You'll love the world folks!!
And finally, I have drawn up a plan for making the demo and it has been split into under 30 segments. It's alot but it's all worth the wait.

Anyway, I have 18 bits of armour to graphically code. The content of them is already there but I don't have the graphics of them in it.

I can do that, but there really isn't much to prove it right now. After I do the Traveller Class and the Swords+Knives, I'll make the Menus. That's when I will take another shot :D

This is turning into quite a big RPG, and it's being done pretty quick, I hope that once you start getting proof of the game that it will get more attention, it'll deserve it.

It looks bland right now but for the following reasons
-Not all 14 professions are done
-No tiling at all
-Only one NPC/PC (The player)
-Not all 98 skills are done
-Not all 80 weapons are done
And other reasons. Once Demo 1 is released, I hope for some attention.

I bring great news! I have done half of the knife engine and with it comes another screenshot!!!

This time it's of two things. The first thing is that it consists of the basic engine of my favourite skill, the Dash Attack!!! The second thing is that it shows you the best knife in the game!
Assasin's Blood-In the war of the gods, this knife was used by a vengance warrior to kill assasins with. It's power for some reason now increases everytime an assasin is killed with the knife
I am still considering whether to make it's attack power increase everytime you kill an assasin.

There is no demo yet. I still have a long way to go. But when it's done, it will be epic. Thanks for telling me of the error in my post.
I will PM you when I have a demo ready for you :D (And only you :D)
EDIT: Almost forgot, nearly completed the swords and knives. I will also be improving the staves which will turn the total of completed weapons to 50.
Also, I hope to get the Traveller+Fighter class done soon (Bringing it the number of completed classes to 5) and implement graphic effects for the skills

I bring news. I now have a secret profession done. I hope to complete the Potion throwing weapons soon...

As you know, in my previous games, I had a werewolf creature called The Wolf. (For those who don't, it's a mythical creature who has dark powers but uses them for good. Other people can be given the ability to transform into and out of The Wolf)
Anyway, I plan to revive The Wolf as a class. Now I need advice, should it be unlockable by story quests or another way?

Hey guys I bring sad news. I've had to stop working on the coding for a while due to a horrible virus on my computer. It also means my time on the forums is almost lost except at college. This is until the situation is either solved or I get a new computer. Sorry guys.
OMG! A whole week without a computer at home!! :O
But things are still happening. Im writing the descriptions for each item in the game. With it done, I can then modify it anytime I like.

I bring some good news. I have been allowed to borrow a laptop until my computer is fixed. Although I can't work anymore on the coding, it means I can write the story scenes, the quests, the items and other stuff!!!

It won't be long until all 14 professions are complete so when they are done and I have the menus done, I can release a Tech Demo. It'll just be a simple walk,attack and use skills demo but sorry guys, I've delayed you from playing a tech demo for so long.

Bugs solved, lots of features and stuff. Im quite chuffed about it. Hopefully when a demo comes out it'll become a featured project.

Tower of Shadious
South of the Hallow Forests lies the golden tower known as the Tower of Shadious. A 22 story high tower. 1 room explains the rules. 20 rooms contain monsters. The last room has never been visited. What's up there? Nobody knows....
Well except me. Basically, each floor you encounter a new monster. Defeating 10 of them allows you to go up a floor. And so on. The top floor allows you to become a tougher hero.

If you need it in vista, I can convert. Mark Overmars made a converter to make Gm6 games compatible with vista.

Anyway, glad you all like it and I hope to have a demo sometime this year. Dungeons will return and the same bosses are back. Like the old one but with a better story, improved gaemplay and more content!!! (Plus a better graphics style, remember the old one? Lol, how !@#$% XD)

Sounds quite ambitious ;-). I have a long road ahead of me before I go to college(or uni, whichever you prefer). I'm only 15 after all haha. The graphics style really doesn't matter to me. I look at the game itself, the music more, and the technical stuff. Anyhow I think this should be freeware considering it is your last 2D game, right?

A small little update. I've been working on some of the quests for demo 1. Aside from the story quests, there is 8 (maybe 9) quests you can do. I think there may be a chance to unlock a profession....

I've decided not to encrypt savefiles and textfiles. If you really wanted to, you could write swear words into the game XD

5.00 was a pretty good value but when i leveled it turned into 5.02.
and when i had 5.00 in attack speed i couldent hit the enemies like 90% of the times thats why i took 2.00 on that one. ;)

A big topic update.
Status : I have put a quest bar on top of the topic so you can see how many quests can be completed in the new demo. When the bars are full, the game has all quests. I also included the Fields of Orenna. Every blue notch means another 7 parts of the field are availible.
Concept Art : We got a concept artist at long last and an awesome one to boot! He will be working on them at his own pace. Keep an eye out for some eye candy.
Preview Demo : I am getting close to another Preview Demo. When another notch on the Fields of Orenna is filled, I will be sending it to testers and then releasing it. Keep an eye out for this very soon.
Maps : Until they're done, not all maps show you the landscape. However, maps will now show you of any monsters or NPCs nearby.

Finding Quests : Quests are now alot easier to find and update. Whenever a NPC can update a quest or give you a quest, a scroll appears over their head. This was easy to construct and will be in the game as a premanent feature.
Hood : As you saw in the screenshot, there was a hooded fellow by the Mugger. He sets you the majority of all quests. He sets you in total 70 quests. 5 in each location he's in. I shall give you some for you to find.
Orenna Capital, Colensa, Gora Mountains
Except for The Wolf, he will set quests at multiples of 10.
I hope to get a new preview demo out by the 15th of March.

These are the 8 Elemental Species of Crens. Going clockwise they are
Fire,Water,Earth,Air,Nature,Thunder,Light,Shadow.
Each species is similar to an animal/mythical creature
Fire:Wyrm
Water:Fish
Earth:Elephant
Air:Monkey
Nature:Centaur
Thunder:Snake
Light:Angel
Shadow:Demon
These are the 8 elements you choose to be at the start of the game.

This is the FIRST working BOSS. But you won't be fighting him anytime soon. I forbid it. He's too hardcore. Lvl 99s only on this one.
Anyway, he resides on the top of the Tower of Shadious. He is Shadious, the god of Beasts. He holds the mightiest armour in the game.
Quite a reward really.

It might be because I still have a CRT screen. I can't see anything on the screenshot but the HUD. Most of the time selecting an image, would give some indication of what is on it, but not this time. I think you've made it to dark in that area. A game I can't see isn't a fun game to play.

What I'll do then Niek is in the Settings allow the user to select the darkness of the nighttime. How about that? Sorry for your inconvience

I have to agree with niek, it's rather dark, and it's not just his CRT monitor. I had to strain my eyes to work out what was there.

Would you like it so that it doesn't become too dark if it both rains and is night?

I think purple/black/red would fit better for sickness :p like a fading filter that constantly fades in and out and it fades faster if you move/attack and such things. Would be cool x)

Maybe in important-vision spots (Boss fights, treasure digging) you should have some light source around such as a torch to fix this problem, and also have some amount of dim light in cities, made by oil lamps in the street. While in open plains there is no light.

Torch - Brilliant Idea :D
Oil Lamps - Orenna Capital has lights. Colensa doesn't. Yet...

It seems to look better. I'm currently behind a laptop. I will comment again when I'm behind the CRT. It still is pretty dark, so I have to agree with the others to use torches or other kind of light sources, like camp fires or fireflies.
But if I'm correct I recognize 1 blue dude and 2 yellowish dudes and a purple diamond with a darker circle.

I think a night depth settings would benefit you. It's been settled.
EDIT: In the settings menu, there is a night option. Goes from 0% to 80%. You will be able to fully play the game.

Is the 0% equal to day or is there a lower bounds on the darkness?

0% means you want no darkness. This is for people who have computers that don't support darkness.

You should aim for sound now. It would also be good with a "tutorial" house like training room or something. There they teach you to talk, buy, fight and such things. Would help alot =)

Tutorial House: Im sorry but I must disagree....ONLY JOKING!!! Best idea ever! Jotting down.
Sound: Just need to find an application for converting MIDI to .ogg and we're away.

It is kinda odd that you can see inside other houses when your in one.
But that has to do with the game style and should not be changed if you want the game to be builded like that.
Maybe you should start at the tittle screen when creating a new game? You know, when you start a new game the guy at the tree stand up and from there you start your adventure? That would be nice :}

I regret to inform you all that the latest demo has too many bugs. Hence I tell you not to play it. I will conpensate this by a repaired version very soon.

The game having a day/night system etc is cool, but having it so dark you can't play it properly is just stupid >_<
unless of course its supposed to be like that? (like the dungeons in alttp, needing you to use the torch etc)
In real life you probably can't see anything in some huge plain with no light, but gameplay, fun etc > realism >_<
I think I tried this at a friends house the other day, getting the demo from the GMC, but i noticed that the lamps do nothing to the darkness level? they're yellow, but they don' actually let you see much better. Try playing around with blending if you haven't :D

Converting savefiles
Due to the Elemental Wheel needing an element variable, it would have meant death and destruction to your progress so far, but fear not. Just follow this list and you will be fine. You will need to put in the elem variable. But choose your number carefully
Non-Elemental: elem=0
Fire: elem=1
Water: elem=2
Earth: elem=3
Air: elem=4
Nature: elem=5
Thunder: elem=6
Light: elem=7
Shadow: elem=8

And you all remember the Gora Mountains right? The top row of the map which there's only one entrance? Well here's what lies past the Gora Mountain village. A volcano!!!

The volcano is so hot, it drains life from you (Until you reach 1 HP). How much it does depends on your level. Unless your a Forger of course...
