As usual, its time for the annual NCFC, the Nintendo Community Fangame Convention! I urge you to sign up if you want to enter a project this year!
http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com
-
Oh I can't wait for this, Right Infini? :3
-
You got a link to this wonderment, any other sites entering into this, when does it start, what can I enter?
-
http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com/ That's the link
-
lol, to be honest, I kind of have been harking this NCFC for the past few months; it would have been a shame if people forgot about it or were reminded too late. It is a really cool event. This year you can also submit third-party games so much as they were pretty much featured on Nintendo consoles. New things coming to this year's event are:
- Brawl and Mario Kart tournament
- Q & A session with the people who made Vendetta Online
- More stuff
It really is going to be great. Of course I am going to try and submit something, lol.
-
I just noticed that Convention is spelled wrong in the topic title.
I'd submit something, but I'm no good at programming.
-
I'm not a good enough programmer so I'll probably not enter anything.
-
Nice Finally :P I would do smething but dunno, there is no coder :/, I was planning to enter with the CP but now it is dead...
-
Wait, the CP is dead? :'(
-

Why pray tell would the CP be dead? Just because of it not having it's own board? <_<

It is not dead, but if you actually see, most people or atleast almost everyone I have talked about are waiting to see what action is taken on the CP... and no progress has made since then... so somewhat It can be considered Half-dead :P?

So you guys are going to halt production just because you don't have you're own board? ... Wow >_>
You guys should start, cause I don't think that's happening anytime soon...
-
Im entering Zelda1DS
-
I wonder if migokalle will enter his game?
-
that would be cool if he did, but I doubt he will
-
I sent him an PM asking if he will.

I wanna see something Pokemon related from you :P.

It's a subboard of the archives, to me archives are finished things...
Moving the "C"P in another board is all I want. maybe a subboard of Works in Progress(Discuss WIP projects here) or in Project discussion(Discuss different aspects of project development and game design) but not in the archives(Memorable topics are preserved in this location)...
-
Valid point, I still have many ideas for the CP. Also, I suck at programming... :'(

Or we could make our own forum for it, but that would ruin the point of "ZFGC" Community Project. I know the only way that I was motivated to work on it was in the format it was in. I'm sure if it's not supported I won't work on it anymore.
-
I sent him an PM asking if he will.
And I thank you for that! I think this is a very cool idea, and I will submit.
Though, I have a few questions: Will I need a demo?
What exact "event" should I register in? What's the difference between them?
I looked at the website, but I couldn't find any direct answers to these questions.
-
Yes, we may need a demo. Or a trailer
Im sure people will help you out.
Right guys? This guy can win us the crown of "Best in the Show"
GO MIGO!!!
-
The CP had lots of people posting Ideas etc. to the end of it, and the music was coming along great, the story had been sorted, there was a full walking demo with climbing, rupee collecting, sword, loads of stuff. How was/is it dead?
Im looking for NCFC, hope King Mob enters something, but ill understand if he doesnt.

It is not dead, basically we are trying to figure out what to do I have pmed various ideas to the staff, but no reply has been given, I just said dead because the amount of post have dropped hugely with the updated ZFGC, and most of us are just waiting to see what will happen with it, Mamo I understand what you say, but we just need an answer.. I am sure that we can come with a cool demo for the NCFC
-
I don't think it's dead at all. It's just moving a little slowly now that no one is really sure what to do with it - sub board of WIP, special forum for its development, etc. Whatever anyone else wants to do I'm fine with at this point.
-
I wanna see something Pokemon related from you :P.
I am planning on releasing a demo if I can get more of what I have done. I was recently able to get the mechanics behind room transitions to better represent what happens on the original Game Boy, but slight fixing is needed; the speed of the transition and the altering of some colors on the screen at faded points in time (some colors change at fade points to the next darkest color, and before it completely fades, all visible objects fade to being completely black, replicating this is picky). I also recently figured out that the grass is actually made in 32 x 32 pixel spaces and not individual 16 x 16 pixel spaces. I also have to look ahead to when the grass can be cut, meh.
It is a little easier now that I realized that I could just use font_sprite_add() to get rid of some unnecessary coding in my text engine, so that should make things easier.
I haven't even got to the battle system though, but I should have something for the most part done by then assuming that college doesn't cripple my time.
-
I'm totally getting in on this.
No I'm not going to reveal secrets to anyone on here D: Chat only!
-
Hooray~ I have a booth for my game. I hope you guys will swing by it and at least say hi! Project TBA.
-
So. Whos signed up this year then? Only a few weeks to register!
-
I hope to sign up, but I dunno if I can get it to a point were I actually have something to show in that time =/

You don't have to show anything massive.
-
I think I could sign up.
-
I think I could sign up.
Woot. I hope so. I take it you would sign up CoG?
-

Yep. My goal is to finish a demo for it. I hope I have enough time to finish it.
-
LOZSK is in if schedule stays right that will be Demo 2 woot! XD
-
Hm... Is there supposed to be any kind of confirmation mail after you register a booth? I registered some days ago, but I haven't got any e-mail confirming it. So I just started to wonder =/
-
I haven't had any confirmation either. Saw a post at the forum from someone asking if they'd received their application. The response from the organiser was:
If you submitted via the form, we got it. That goes for everyone.
So I don't think they're actually sending out confirmation e-mails... Doesn't fill you with confidence, does it? :P They do say in the FAQ they'll contact you nearer the time though.

So you did enter The Shadowgazer?
-
Yep, since I have a title to defend. :P
-
That's cool! :D I hope this year there will be more games. I doubt it though.
-
Just to follow up - they've now started sending out acknowledgement e-mails.
-
Ah, I think if I had just stuck with Game Maker that I would have had something ready to go, but oh well, different directions have their consequences. I look forward to seeing what other people have submitted though.
-
*grumble* Bah, I'm way behind schedule on my project =( Seems like I have to cut some corners... *Humm... out with this, out with that*
-
I posted this yesterday in the news, but I don't think a lot of people saw it: http://www.zfgc.com/index.php#?action=news&sa=read&id=31348
Anyway, since that was yesterday, the game, booth, and q&a registration is now over, but the Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart tournament registration is now open.
-
I vote that the use of the logos from http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=1994.0 be considered for potential applicants. Just because I don't know if the logo ever got used in any actual game.

Maybe it can be used in the community project?
-

Pyru and I submitted our entry...Yes, Pyru and I have been working on a a fangame! Only for a month and a half or so, but I think you'll find it's coming along very nicely given the amount of time.
Look for "Guardians of Hyrule" when the convention starts! Booth 77! (yay, for luck!)
-
*sigh* Unfortunately, I had to pull my booth =( I just didn't have enough of my game done to show anything. Maybe it's for the best, this way I won't have to rush any parts of the engine, and it will end up better when I actually get to releasing something(Hopefully by December)

NCFC is officially starting up on October 21st and will last until October 25th. And even though the deadlines for registration have passed, there are still things to do other than just watch! There will be a mini-game event which will have its theme announced in the opening ceremonies, and will have all its submissions due by the end of the convention. There will also be a radio channel and a trivia contest about Nintendo games.
However, if you just want to watch, there will be plenty to see. In addition to the booths, workshops, etc. there will be Brawl and Mario Kart tournaments going on. You'll also be able to interact with people from other forums if you register an account on the NCFC forum and see what projects they have; mingling never hurt anybody.
Well anyway, yeah, it's coming up, look forward to it and support the projects from here if you can!
Yeah, I posted this on our site, but I don't think a lot of people go on the site so I will post this here as well.
Yeah, the NCFC is coming up and it's this week, meh.
-
I signed up for both the Mario Kart and Brawl tourneys. I got to practice a bit today and I have to practice for a Banjo-Tooie Face-Off hosted by Marathon Gamer next week on Halloween. So many games to practice with, they are going to kill me or possibly give me a headache.
-
Hey guys, join us in the chatroom at midnight tonight. We'll be announcing the theme for the minigame competition and opening the booths!
-
Unless I converted the time wrong, NCFC should have started. But I think I'm an hour out, I probably forgot to compensate for daylight saving.
-
Well, it's open now, lol, and the projects look good. I like The Legend of Zelda: Specter's Oculus.
-
...Where are you looking to get those?
All I get is STAY OUT when I try ncfc.taloncrossing.com/booths.
EDIT: had to refresh my cache :D.
-
OH Man, I really like the first Zelda Project, uhhh.... *looks* Gaurdians Of Hyrule. You all need to look at it, it's pretty awesome.
