So, working on the community project at the moment and I was wondering what you guys think about this:

It's the Sea Urchin from LA, now in MC style sorta. Let me know what you guys think, I made two different versions, each with three different colors. I personally like the left middle one.
-
Orange would be a more normal sea urchin colour.
Other than that, yeah, good.
-
Blue just seems to fit, I'll post an orange one though.
EDIT: added an orange one, btw which one do you think looks better? the ones on the left or the ones on the right?
-
Hmmm, the white spikes on the orange one look weird.... oh well. My typical idea of a sea urchin is in a bright colour, like an orange or red. Though I guess they come in all sorts of colours.
Anyhow, yeah, left is better than right I think, though I dunno if the ones on the left would actually work better in a game alongside other sprites.....
-
Methinks it would look cool in Mega Man :D
-
I like the left version, blue. I think the darker blue is better; it would probably have more contrast with the water. Since it's likely going to be near water, you don't want the blues to look too similar.
-
I personally always saw them sort of as Gordos from Kirby, so I like left black.
You should try it with just eight spikes, though.
-
I prefer the left hand, darker blue one.
-
I should have commented on these sooner, but I was busy with a lot of things. They look good though and would fit into the Community Project well. Chances are the sea urchins and octoroks will be the first enemies in the engine as well.
-
Thanks for the comment 4sword :).
I've decided to use the dark blue one on the left, might make it a bit darker though. I'm starting to work on the animations right now. Speaking of which I need some opinions on that, should I make the sea urchin animation similar to LA where it just looks in the different directions or should I make something different? I was considering making it so the spikes extend and contract but I'm not sure.
-
The extending and contracting is definitly a good idea. But not just the spikes. I think it would look better as if the sea urchin would be breathing or something.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try.
