Yeah, I thought Disney did an especially good job with Spirited Away. I did see the Japanese version of Ponyo, and I have to say, it's kinda dissapointing.. The art and the creativity as always is amazing but the story is kinda flat... :/

I personally like the second version better, but that is mostly because the first was just too slow for my liking, but that aside I find it funny that they recycled the Finding Nemo Font

I generally hate listening to children sing anyways. They never sound good no matter what people say. And yea, I have that complaint for the original Ponyo theme.

I don't even really think it's about the girl; it's more about Disney mass producing these "stars" instead of just leaving it be. Honestly; I could care less if the 8 year old girl could sing better than Celine Dion, I'd still be against Disney capitalizing on it :P... The biggest thing though is that they bring these kids into it by saturating their songs with autotune and various other digital touchups, leaving them as washed up hacks after they're out of their contracts.

Yeah I realize that, but he's putting it off as if it's the girl's fault and she deserves to be bashed because she's just doing what she likes and her parents are letting her pursue that.

I also hope you realize that not EVERY SINGLE SINGER out there with Disney use 'Autotune and touch ups' and even if they do, so what? Other professional singers use it.

Yeah what I'm saying is that they're coming in without the vocal talent to be singers on their own, and are making it courtesy of Disney doing post production. Not really a matter of other singers using autotune; more of an issue of Disney just mass producing stars via post production instead of talent. Disney doesn't do it with everyone; but they do it with most of them. (read: Selena Gomez, Lindsay Lohan)

No, she..well her dad and producers more than her really, she's just the collateral, deserve to be critcised because her dad let her sing and then released it to the public as anything other than "watch what my kid does, it's so cute ^^".
It's the context that matters, and in context it's as bad as if I tried to release a song with my atrocious singing voice, the use of which has been declared a war crime, even during states of world peace or trying to make the next Zelda with no more knowledge than having read "C++ For Dummies" (or being pushed into trying to make the next Zelda game despite your parents, despite having no more knowledge than having read "C++ for Dummies"...if you have weird parents XD)

Although I really can't say I like Disney's version haha. Really not the right approach to a movie like Ponyo... then again, with all the little brainwashed kids in America that get exposed to this autotune-garbage-music they would probably prefer what Disney did than Hisaishi's orchestral backing :p

anywho, I absolutely agree, why isn't Disney what it should be? Instead targeting 6-9 year old girls (or guys) with 8-18 year old child stars that were on Barney back in the day (Gomez, look that one up XD )
