So far this is my findings;
Modern Warfare 2 is the, hands down, worst multiplayer game ever.
Followed closely by Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is pretty damn good just as long as you get on a decent server where people actually know how to play the game. And not a server full of people who couldn't even team work there way out of a bag.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is good as long as you only play co-op.
Borderlands is solid and fun.
Modern Warfare can be fun until you find the servers with the sad act types.
Battlefield 2 is !@#$% online but Project Reality is awesome online (though that is now coming to Arma 2).
I've not tried many games, would love to play some ArmA 2 online but need to get me new laptop first, and some games are just terrible ideas for online -_- anyone else wanna add?

World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft.
:P
I'd prefer one I dont have to devote a portion of my life to playing :P
-
Well, Borderlands is probably my all-time favorite game; I'd say stick with that one :p
-
I really enjoy Cube 2: Sauerbraten... but I'm cheap.

Really can't go wrong with it XD. Make's me wonder why MW2 get's all the hype as "best multiplayer game ever" then I remember the audience its for...

never even heard of it O_O? any info?

It's free and awesome, has a level editor too. It's not as polished as commercial games of course... but it's pretty fun in my opinion.

Quake 3 ProMode?
EDIT: Warsow is fun as well
-
Team Fortress 2 :)

Any of the Unreal Tournament games?

Borderlands, TF2, CSS, etc. I've never cared for the CoD games either.

yeah so far Borderlands is pretty much cemented as best choice. TF2 I've never really been a fan of tight butthole, not interested in Valve games bar HL, and sometimes CS. Modern Warfare 1 and WaW had pretty good multiplayer, MW2 sucks !@#$% though, so gonna wait and see for Black Ops.

Borderlands is good if you like Co-Op. If you have HL2 for PC I would recommend checking out the Synergy Mod which allows for Co-Op HL2 campaign.

Borderlands has good vs too, but you have to travel to it to do it :p

Red Dead Redemption
-
Metal Gear Online :P
-
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
:p
I like the Ghost Recon games, but I think most Tom Clancy games are probably about the same in terms of gameplay style.
-
Mario Kart Wii. (Or any other mario kart game for offline)
-
Dungeons and Dragons......*snigger*
...Well, actually Neverwinter Nights is pretty decent for roleplay that leaves you feeling a tad less nerdy (not that there's anything wrong with D&D, I've never actually played a Tabletop game like that so can't really comment XD).
You know, I remember Splinter Cell: Double Agent for the 360 actually had a pretty fun multiplayer, dunno if it's the same for the PC or whatever though...

Metal Gear Online :P

Starcraft 2, beta still for a few days :P

Like 2D platformers involving click and shoot with multiple players online, team or individual?
Soldat is the game for you. I used to play the realistic survival mode before it died out.

urbanterror.net - Free, fast and fun, been playing it for years and its always the game I come back to.
