Title: 6/6/06 = End of the world? (As we know it? XD)
Post by: Pyro on June 03, 2006, 05:18:34 am: Yeah, there have been rumors i've heard about this 6/6/06 being the end of the world, since its the number of the beast, I belive in this supersticious (spelling?) stuff, but this is a lil out of hand. I've seen things that said in the bible it said its the end of the world, and a few other sources...But I really dont think anything is going to happen...because what about 1906, 1806, and so on? And if any of you heard of Sylvia Browne, her (or some other psychic) said that on June 6th,2006 and UFO is going to crash into the earth, and somthing else on the sixth...Do you think anything is going to happen on 6/6/06?

Anyways; quick summary why this is ridiculous:

- The world hasn't ended at 6/6/6, 6/6/16...6/6/1806, 6/6/1906, so why would it end next week?
- Any scholar proof? I don't think there is any to support this theory.

And there are many calenders in the world...nothing will happen on 6/6/06....apart from maybe some terrorists who think its fun to do something on that date.

Mr. Bush pollutes so much, and encourages people to pollute so much, that global warming has sped up and will take it's disasterous toll on June 6th, engulfing all of the US, just like our Hero, Al Gore, has told us.

That graph is just showing the different temperatures that water changes phases. it has nothing to do with the rate of global warming.

It is NOT the end of the world. Take into account the year 6-6-6 has passed several times in the past. Years 1006, 106, 206, 306. Hell, there's been the year 666 and the world hasn't ended. Also note that it isn't even 666... it's 6606.

Now, lets look at the fact that there may have been a mistranslation in the numbers. MEANING, it might actually be 616 instead of 666. In which case, 6/1/06 just passed.

Bottom line: It's a freaking date. The devil doesn't waste his time on things just because they say 666. I'll freaking tattoo 666 on my forehead and it will NOT do anything. -_-

Apologies for any rudeness on this post. I have had to argue this so many times that I feel like popping.

The thing with the mayan calendar is that it's been right a few times before. The other thing, which that page doesn't state, is that the calendar ends on that date. It could mean a few things. Number one, the world (or mankind, a different thing) could end. Also, it could mean that it's the beginning of a new era. Finally, and quite likely, they just stopped there. To them going beyond now probably seemed quite pointless. But hey, I find end of the world theories fun :P

Look there for some of the information. It also states that there are many issues with the date and that things may happen as early as this year June-October. The thing with the mayan calendar is that it's been right a few times before. The other thing, which that page doesn't state, is that the calendar ends on that date. It could mean a few things. Number one, the world (or mankind, a different thing) could end. Also, it could mean that it's the beginning of a new era. Finally, and quite likely, they just stopped there. To them going beyond now probably seemed quite pointless. But hey, I find end of the world theories fun :P
