Need a composer. Got 3 spriters.
- Aaron Mercer.
Oracle of Life Beta:
Code [50%] - Coding is alot more efficient.
Spriting [10%] - The new style for Oracle of Life. Spriters: Halotank, Kren.
The demo will have: Account Management (Done), Arrow Key Walking (Done) and some other minor testing things. This test is only to watch for lag, bugs, etc. Do not expect anything as big as the Zelda demos.

Wonderful, I can't wait. Stupid me missed out on the last beta testing for the game. I don't know what happened, maybe work or something like that. I'll be waiting and hoping for Nov. 25th. :)

Every beta has to be taken off for some stupid reason or another. The last was because of a glitch with stats, and the one before because of hecking. Hopefully the next demo will never go down.

Version 1.0 is the official one. When the game has all classes, more spells, other features, and is basically bugless, it'll be then.

You could create a patch system maybe so people didn't have to redownload exe's every time an update came out, if you would do that much work. But I wouldn't <_<. Either way, looks great as always.

In stead of patching an old version, why not just have the game check for updates, if there are new updates download a new exe with new crap, ask to close the current game window and then it deletes itself, ending that game. You restart it with the new exe downloaded that had the same name.
It's just a file download and switch that would be much easier then a patch system. (Or, you make all your maps and map scripts in mappy, so it downloads a new map and the script would just include crap like sound add, object add, etc. Just encrypt them with whatever so no editing. That would be an easier way then a patch system too.)

ok, I like the way its back up and everything, I wish good luck and make sure you take a break every once in a while, but I only have one major question....will we still have our old accounts or will we have to create new ones?

Unfortunately, the stat glitch will cause all accounts to be deleted. I am very annoyed, because I promised this wouldn't happen. I can guarantee it will not happen again.
I have been working on the code basically all day, and I am really proud of what I have done so far. Hooray for me.

The Swordsman class unfortunately will not be in the next demo, the Archer will. The Archer however may have some close combat skills, I am not sure.
It is far, but it will be hell worth it :D

Or he could make a patch system, like most games. You don't want to download a new exe for each game you own each time an update is made, now do you? I don't suggest a patch system right now, when the main developing is going on, but near the end of the game, I highly suggest it. It wouldn't be hard to do, just have a text file uploaded with a version number. D/l it each time the game is run, if the versions don't match, download a text file and execute it or something, along with graphics/etc that need fixing. It's a simple idea, but whatever.
I don't care, as long as the game is good overall <_<

I told you before thats what the game does.
Edit: Hooray! I went from 9000 characters to 1500 in the spell script. It is less laggy (by milliseconds) and the Heal bug is fixed. Also, the online Highscore table is complete.

Erm, there were priests, considering Weapon was one O_o.
Edit: JohnGames and my friend finished testing. Wow, that was hell fun. Cant wait for a public test.
Edit2: OK, I threw in a fourth quest.
Edit3: New HUD 50% done, which supports Current Players Online =) (We needed that badly).

This has to be the best game, but CoD (Choice of Destiny) could also be in a chance. BUT THIS IS THE BEST ONLINE GAME!

CoD has definately got everything a fangame needs. We try to keep ours ahead of the competition (which we are failing, at the moment.)

You basically force your router (or modem?) to allow packets through a port. If your device blocks it, OoL cant use it. It should work though.

I had this problem before. Normally a message pops up and you can choose to over-ride it, or just go into the control panel and it should be easy from there :P

OoL generally has no router issues, it only uses TCP connections.

It didnt happen with Ool. It was with some stupid internet game back in the day. I think runescape? I dunno, one of those games though :P Then I got it to work.

I was wondering that too.
Or you could do a (left or right) Whichever one isint being used. As a clicker for the arrows, and the arrows would go to that location wherever you clicked, etc. And theres a certain speed that the arrows go at and it raises when your certain skills go up... and! IM SO EXCITED. :jellytime:

Well, players will be able to either use the Mouse or Keyboard for Movement. If they use Keyboard, CTRL is fire (fires straight ahead). if they use mouse, they click their target and the arrow zooms at them.

Windows Firewall has probably blocked it. When its out, there will be guides to fixing errors.
Edit: Holy moly, after playing with a program for an hour, I was able to change my username, HP, and other random things in the game. I cannot believe the game is that hackable (its my first day).
Ill have to do things to fix it.

i remember in the last demo everyone would see the poes do different things
for example you wouldnt be able to watch a poe attack another play because they all would be going after you but in
another players screen they'd all be going after him.

Personally, I think you shouldn't really worry about most of that stuff unless it'll have an effect server side.
Take HP for example, you get hit my an enemy, the collision is detected on the server and deducts HP then sends that value back to the client. Wouldn't matter what they'd change it to since it'd be overwritten by the new value. You'll have a hard time trying to prevent memory changes like those and most of them won't even have an effect on the game as long as you keep most things server side.

Most of the stats are stored client side then sent after saving.

Reminds me of one of the first problems you encountered when developping OoL, routers! I felt so relieved when you sent me the beta that worked with routers, haha it was fun testing pre-beta-super-alpha swordsman. Anyway, are you going to make it public or are you going to have a beta-test of archers before ZFGC release?

No offence but that OoL seems alot better.... it might be the simplerer hud and tiling, the cows, something just makes me like those screens better.

I am honestly not sure how this will go. It is definitely faster now, but 56kers may explode when alot of players are online.

When I throw the archers in, Ill do a quick test with my team. If it all goes well, Ill have a public test for a day or two to find any bugs.

The fog has been taken out. Alot of people complained about the lag it created.
Anyway all, I have spent a day planning very thoroughly what else needs to be done. Class Requirements (items), Inventory, Bank, better HUD, more quests (Weapon is finally done <3).
I still need the town from HoF, which has yet to be completed.
OH, by the way, arrow keys are done. You can use either mouse or arrow keys now.
I promise, the next demo will be the best online game in ZFGC history. I play by myself to boost up my rupees sometimes... Its pretty nice when a Poe drops 50 rupees randomly.

You shouldn't have put "It doesn't matter" in there.
becuase the point to a poll is getting the public to decide for you, if you are having trouble. Putting that option there, would only make things worse for your decision. What if the majority of people say "It doesn't Matter". What will be your decision, then?

i think you should apply it, I mean if you were busy doing something and then you had to logoff then it would save where you were so you wouldn't have to start back from the starting point.

I chose No, the reason for that is people could log back in to boss rooms where they logged out. But if you made it so if they log in a boss room and they go back to the beginning then I will say that if someone logs out and they log in then it would make them stay int he room BUT not the same position.

Novices will eventually be able to fight (simple attack lol) but yes, for class changes, you need some items. Just ask somebody for them or something.

I voted no, I would rather have it so that you respawn in the same place every time.
Either that or if possible make it so that once you come to a certain place (like a certain house or something) you can choose to respawn there, I don't think that would be easy to do though, could be wrong

i voted yes because when i play mmorpgs their are many times when im playign with sum1 and they say brb and they log out or they get disconnected in the middle of sumthing and it would suck say that were in a dungeon or sumthing then i get disconnected and i have to start back sum where far and have to travel all the way back to that person.

One player runs up to a group of high leveled enemies, logs off, while another player lures the enemies away from that area, the other player then logs back on and can get past that area.

will their hp, mp, spell delay or whatever else stats be reset when they log back on?
if this gets the go ahead, will the user be forced to respawn at their last location or will the have the option to respawn at a nearby inn?

AoDC, I'd go with "Yes", we should be where-ever we were logged out at.
Once you log out inside "Instances", or "dungeons", you will be transported to your nearest inn, or outside of the dungeon, with the dungeon being reset.
This is to prevent cheap ways of item/exp farming.

Luring is an issue in every MMO. I cant fix it, and I will not bother.

If it does happens to us, then a team discussion will be held place. I asked AoDC about it, and he said we'll be changing everything Zelda to a custom storyline.

Yes, its all back to normal. BUT, OoL is on my old HD, along with everything else. My friend is getting everything from the HD off it. I have OoL on USB stick, but its the version without the spawn system. Ill just wait for my friend =)

While the issue was happening, I had time to rest and rethink. I thought of alot of things I did wrong, and how to fix them. Alot of things are being redone, recoded, and alot of the spells have nice particle effects now. Its fun fun fun now to just sit in PVP and say WOW! at the effects.
Also, a new thing that basically no MMO has. When your health is low, your screen has a blur effect, and you hear a strong heartbeat. It makes Clan Matches really intense.
I am going to look for composers and spriters soon. OoL will soon be going custom style, completely. I am changing alot around to get ready for it. Zelda LTTP is just not the right style for the direction the game is going. But, the conversion will not begin until the demo is out :). I want people to play and leave feedback while the new version is in progress.

Nice, I would love to help as an assistant in the spriting part, but I don't want to define the style, just help to contribute to it, I recommend try to use similar graphics to lttp, but like in size not in colours, so you can still use the maps you have :P

Nothing has even been programmed yet. I did some 39dll tests yesterday. Im switching from SOC 3.1 to 39dll 2, its faster and does more. One small map with nothing but trees, one class, and some small test stuff.

OK all. It took a while, but I went back to SOC and recoded everything. The game now works more efficient than before, uses arrow keys, and has a nice style. A screenshot may or may not be released :)

Well.. the project isn't even Zelda anymore, it's 100% custom. It'll be post in the WIP section with a test demo on new years.
