Title: Faster Recolor Method
Post by: -X- on October 18, 2006, 01:01:19 am
I looked through the topics and I didn't see anything about this so I figured I'd post it up to help out with recolors so they don't take forever

For me it helps to zoom in to 6x or 8x to make sure you don't select the wrong colors

1)Pick the image you want to recolor
2)Pick out the new colors you want to use
3)Select the Eye-Dropper tool
4)Right Click on the new color you want to use
5)Select the Eye-Dropper tool again
6)Left Click the old color from the sprite
7)Select the Eraser (it may seem crazy but stay with me here)
8)Right click and hold down the button and run the Eraser over the old sprite

...and the old color is replaced with the new one

9)Repeat for other colors/other shades of the color

and there you have it, fast accurate recolors :D

Faster than that, but restricted to the entire image, in mspaint:

Have the colour you want to replace as the secondary colour, and the colour you want to replace it with as the primary colour.

Press Ctrl+a
Press Ctrl+x
Select the jug fill tool
Left click on the canvas such that the entire canvas is filled with the primary colour
Press Ctrl+v
Select the Masked paste mode, and not the Opaque one, under the tools box at the side.
Now click outside the canvas.

Rather than be told, i prefer people to have to figure these kinds of things out for themselves.
The benifits to a learning mind are substantial.

Mod Edit: There is absolutely zero content in that post that is relevant, so it is spam and you are warned.

Wow, real productive post OSL :-\

Select the Masked paste mode, and not the Opaque one, under the tools box at the side.
Now click outside the canvas.

You just have to make sure that when you press ctrl+v that you are scrolled up and left all the way, or you will lose some of the canvas.

You guys know that if you used something like Graphics Gale or ProMotion you could tweak these colors instantly without even having to touch a paint can or fiddle with transparency colors? :P You simply set the palette then when you edit that color it changes... real time color changing! (lol sony)

MGI photo suite, great for recolors, decrease color range from 16million, select color you want to change, edit that color and presto it changes all colors like that.

I personally prefer GM over ms paint.

All you needto do is have the colers set up like in aabs technique, and press the icon that has the red moving over the blue.  :jellytime:

Mod Edit: Quit pushing your luck.  This is a second warning and a further warning will result in you being banned.  This is not a joke.
