Title: LOZ: Hall of the Dead - UPDATE
Post by: imfletcher on April 05, 2006, 12:01:39 am
Oh no! Another Zelda fan game from that dude who actually finished one. Well it's not a sequel and it's not a remake but I've taken a lot of old ideas and mixed them into a new storyline. I don't really want to give a heckuva lot away right now so I'll just post some early screens:

That looks awsome man. I think me and you are the only two to finish a Zelda Fan Game. XD

And that boat scene reminds me of a scene in ZFGC: Gang Wars. :P

Hmm, looks nice so far. Let's hope it's as original as your previous games.

Wow thanks for all the positive feedback. I'll be sure to put the actual ALttP hearts in a bit later on.

Oh and a small update: I just finished the entire opening and the large town that serves as the main hub. Now I'm going to start designing the other five areas and their respective dungeons. I'll probably post more screens as I finish those areas.

Good to see you starting this new project.  Looks really nice so far, like your Darkness Uprising(too bad that you couldnt finish the other game, didn't you hardrive screw up and you lost it or something?)  Good Luck on the new one!!

Pretty pretty cool! I like it! The graphics look awesome! You only may change the HUD (the hearts), and it will look PERFECT. :D

Good work, mate! I can't wait for a demo version.

It seems like it has a real rpgish and character interactive storyline, and looks somehow original. Nice!

This is looking very promising, and from what I've played the engines are a massive improvement over DU. Of course this game features a sword and NPC interaction. The main town is large and holds some great secrets (I only cracked a few of them).

Stay tuned for what looks like a marvelous Zelda game.

Its looking and playing great, the map I've played, the hud of the game being the town was well laid out and as Sol said the secrets it holds are great (I found most apparently hehe).

I am looking forward to playing this game upon its completion :D

No sir. Everything is either FSA, ALttP, or custom/edited.

I haven't even posted gameplay details yet and probably won't for some time. You see I'm trying out the Nintendo method of revealing games.  ;)

The nintendo method is good but you should release something new in abut a week or everyone will forget about it. Nintendo has a huge fan base that barely breaks. Zfgc on the other hand, as soon as the topics left for a month they don't care about it any more.

Wll I didn't say I wasn't going to release *ANYTHING*, just nothing important. Maybe I'll put up a new screen or two heh.

Just Bumping this with three new screens:

Also I can say that I just need to make the boss and the first dungeon is complete.

Yes, very nice screenshots! But maybe you should add a HUD and a better heart-sprite? Anyways, looks great ^_^
Title: Re: LOZ: Hall of the Dead - UPDATE
Post by: imfletcher on April 11, 2006, 12:39:26 am
Well I'm going to change the hearts but that's low on my priority list (in fact it's after finishing the main game) as for the hud, the only info I needed to add was on the pause menu. Uh oh, does that mean Imfletcher has planned yet another twist? I wonder.

Oh and a progress update, I'm done up to the end of the first dungeon (With a neat pharoh type boss). I "COULD" release a demo soon in theory (and a huge one at that) but if people like it enough they may become antsy to play the real thing. Also I'm thinking it'd be more fun to discover the entire game at once rather than already having it 1/5th beat before release.

Yeah that does sound like a GREAT IDEA :o but I cant wait for the real thing That looks good demo or no demo
Title: Re: LOZ: Hall of the Dead - UPDATE
Post by: .Imyge on April 11, 2006, 02:36:20 am
I'd rather play the game all at once rather than having little demos ruining the final product.

I hope to be able to play through many puzzles too.  Also I hope you don't forget that when you get hit link should jump back a little, that was one of the most annoying things in your first game that I noticed. Maybe even secret rooms, not involved in the actual gameplay with references to other games, or anything would be awesome. ;D Can't wait to see more!

They're my favourite parts of Zelda games, of course I'm going to have puzzles, and lot's of them too.

Look closely at the screens.  ;)

Well I have plenty of little nods towards both other Zelda games and DU. As for secrets, I'm definately going to reward perfectionists if that means anything.

There being puzzles is always good to hear.

Mmm... the version I played is out-of-date. I'll have to get ahold of the latest version, or maybe wait for the dungeon boss to be finished. Anyhow if and when I get to test it I'll give you guys my thoughts.

This calls for IMing Kyle (IMF).

Sol edit: Offline? Noes!

Sol edit: Online? :D

Sol edit: IMFletcher doesn't want me spoiling the game but I can tell you it's awesome so far.

Hey, cool, it's looks pretty good :). I didn't really like the Zelda game you made before (no offense, but I didn't), but this looks a little more promising. The only thing that I found confusing was this, though:

Um, when you said "aurora" did you actually mean "aura"? Because aurora is just the northern lights, the night rainbow, etc.

Oooooo this looks interesting! Awesome screenies n_n
I haven't played your other Zelda game, but I guess it doesn't matter since this has a different story etc :P

The boat scene, are we allowed to know who that girl is :P? Is it Zelda <___<?
I hope the story will be finished soon ;D

Keep up the good work!

Er yeah that's what I meant, are you 100% sure on the spelling? If so I'll change it ASAP.

The story IS done, it's just that unlike some games I don't unload the whole thing at the beginning. The story will go deeper as you play. Giving off just the opening will make it seem simple and cheap while giving off the whole thing would spoil the game, so uh nothing.

I will say that the girl is Zelda though.

He is correct. You can type "define:[word]" in google to check word definitions, I know I do sometimes.

Well technically it's not a forest but a jungle so I have to mix it up a bit. Maybe I'll toy a bit more with it.

EDIT: Made a small change, looks a bit more lush and jungle-esque. Better?

I never said it was hard. In fact I said it was easy therefore I'm just going to do it later. My priority is finishing the game then I'll perfect it. That's how I finished the first one and it's also how I'm going to finish this one.

Whoo! Just finished everything up to the second dungeon. In other words I'm almost halfway done the main quest. Three more areas after this then I simply toy around with menus and such. That's not to say I'm going to be done anytime soon but things are going better with this than they ever had with the Autumn Rune. I'll probably post some stuff from Dungeon 2 when I finish it.

This project is looking very sweet! Out of curiosity, is this a new engine or are you using the DU engine? Or a bit of both (recycling for the win!).

Again, out of curiosity, are you going to be altering that entrance? To my eyes it just looks a little out of place colour wise. It sticks out a little.

If it's the DU engine then he's redone a lot of it because it's quite different.

This is closer to a traditional Zelda game than DU, though it also has it's original elements like all IMFletcher's games do.

I guess I don't need to find an agent...

Anyway yeah, the way it plays is similar to DU in a sense (I changed some items to act like summons) but other than that it's quite different.
