Ask me questions. Serious ones, too. If TheRealDragonBoy can do it, then why can't I?

Fire away.

Entertainment / Stranglehold Demo
« on: August 16, 2007, 12:17:01 am »
It really is awesome. After playing it, I can honestly say that I'm going to at least rent it. The reason I won't buy it is because it's only 6 levels long with 4 difficulty settings. It really is a fantastic game, it's loads of fun to play, and I actually may end up buying it, which renders my statement about renting it obsolete.

Other Discussion / recording audio from computer, how?
« on: August 13, 2007, 03:05:01 am »
Let's say I want to rip some music or sounds from a youtube video, how would I do this without downloading it and manually ripping it (even then, I wouldn't know how to do that)? My sound recorder isn't picking it up, any tips or free software links?

Other Discussion / Skype
« on: August 12, 2007, 06:20:15 am »
It says it costs money to call phones via Skype. How do they charge you? I didn't give my real address or any credit card info. So...can I make prank phone calls on Skype for free or will I get charged somehow?

And no, I know about it being Spyware. And it isn't. Just answer this question. ^^

Other Discussion / Vista sucks ass.
« on: August 11, 2007, 09:49:13 pm »
I want to uninstall Vista and re-install XP, but I'm not sure how to do it. Can someone post some very easy to follow, clear steps for me? And also, if I do this, will I need to reformat my HDD? I don't want to lose all the stuff I downloaded.

Feedback / Can we please get rid of the welcome page?
« on: August 11, 2007, 03:30:39 pm »
"Welcome to ZFGC your community for Zelda fan game, fan game, and independent game development.

As you can see our development staff has been progressing over the past few months on a new site.
Though we are not 100% complete with the development of the website, we have decided to move ahead
in deploying parts of the website where we can, starting with the web forum.

If you have any questions, ideas, or comments please feel free to email me at andrew@zfgc.com,
or post on the forums, under the feedback section. Enjoy your stay!"

It's really annoying and just plain unnecessary. Can't something like that be displayed in the news box on the actual forum page?

Other Discussion / Microphone Help
« on: August 10, 2007, 11:57:39 pm »
So today, I bought a headset microphone thingy and the mic won't work. My PC set up is weird, too. I'll explain.

On the back of my PC tower, theres a 3x2 grid of input jacks. For my desktop speakers to work, I have to plug in a black one and greyish green one. Okay. For my headphones to work, I have to unplug my desktop speakers from the back of my PC tower and plug in my headphones. The headphones jack is on the front of my PC tower. So I plug them in, bingo, I hear stuff. Open up sound recorder, talk, save, play it back, and I dont hear anything. The visualization in windows media player is moving, as if sound waves were picked up, but I couldn't hear them. So I uninstalled my Sound Driver, and now only my monitor speakers work. My sound provider is Realtek, and when I try to download the drivers, it tells me to put in my CD, which I dont have because my PC came bought with the soundcard. And I uninstalled it.

Please help me fix this. Get my sound driver back on track and make my mic work.

I tested my mic, and when I speak, the bar fills up accordingly if I'm louder or softer. But the sound recorder doesn't work. I save my recording and play it in Windows Media, and nothing plays. But the mic testing bar picks up that I'm speaking. WTF. I know the unit itself works, cuz, my headfones work, just not the mic. All drivers updated, too. Man, !@#$% vista.

Other Discussion / quick YTMND question
« on: August 10, 2007, 10:01:43 pm »
Just wondering, what programs do they use to edit ytmnd's, as in, for example, the "What is Love" fad, they add faces over the animation, etc, what programs can do that? namely, what FREE programs? basically, video editing?

edit: maybe this should be in tech talk. just need a quick answer.

Other Discussion / Must Have Software
« on: August 10, 2007, 08:04:10 pm »
Post here the programs that you use on your PC that you would feel incomplete without them. Basically, MUST HAVE PROGRAMS!

Provide Links to download, also and a brief description. Note: please only mention FREE programs

1. PIDGIN
http://www.pidgin.im/
Pidgin is an IM program that you can sign on with multiple accounts from different IM clients. It's great if you have MSN, AIM, YIM, ICQ, whatever, you can have all those accounts signed on at once, in ONE program, have one buddy list, keep tabbed conversations, really it is a must have for multi IM-ers.

2. avast! anti-virus, Spybot S+D, and Lavasoft Ad-Aware.
(respectively) http://www.avast.com/ , http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html , and http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
These programs will keep your machine very safe, especially avast! which includes realtime protection and  scans for many clients (BitTorrent, Limewire, Internet Downloads, Email Attachment downloads, plus tons more) and Spybot and Ad Aware are very good free spyware andadware remover and protection programs.

3. eMule and uTorrent
links hidden, because I don't pirate.
programs for pirating, because everyone pirates! eMule is very safe and fast unlike LimeWire or BearShare, and uTorrent is very fast with an efficient and easy to use GUI! don't ask for the links, use google if you really want to know.

Entertainment / Will Oblivion run on my PC with these specs?
« on: August 01, 2007, 12:45:41 am »
Here's my system info:
----------------
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 766MB RAM
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 10

Graphics Card:
------------------
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 6100 nForce 405
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC

Basically, I want to know:
1. Could I run regular Oblivion at a decent framerate? What detail level would be best?
2. Would OldBlivion be playable with this setup?
3. And what's the reccomended detail setting for running OldBlivion on my PC, considering my specs?

Other Discussion / Getting a new PC!
« on: July 30, 2007, 02:31:37 pm »
My mom and sister went to BestBuy today to buy a PC because since my sister moved out we have no PC and we're stuck using my other sister's laptop. I told her to get a PC with at least 512 MB of ram and a dual-core processor (or pentium 4).

What does DDR2 ram and all that jazz mean?

DAT MEANS U, FOX. Or anyone who has the ability and desire to translate what's seen in these scans, because there may be more info hiding in the scans that weren't bulleted and put on the overview list.
