Wooopeti, another art thread here at ZFGC. Star and Kami are the responsible ones for motivating me to do this, but it's a motivation that I need to get things done when it comes to drawing XD

Anyways, first piece of art is for a upcoming indie game I'm developing. This is the main character of the game, I'm quite satisfied on how it turned out, buuuut this might not be the final design of the little guy :)

I did a quick cleanup on the deku stick. All I did was giving it a complete black outline, fixed some jaggies and gave it a less messier shade. Hope you like it :)

Uh, did some changes to it, and ended up with two different versions.
Also; improved palette, and changed some colors to my likings.
Ser bra ut, Gonken ;)
Bra val av färg, men jag tycker att det blev lite för rörigt runt om vid ögat med två helt olika färger, munnen var även lite svår att läsa av. Fixade till lite smått om det uppskattas! Förresten, gör ingen hel sprite åt just honom, tanken bakom att jag gör sjabbiga edits är för att han ska få ett hum om hur man gör, lägg inte ner för mycket tid åt honom. Vi moderatorer håller ett öga på honom just för att han är bra på att sno sprites och ta cred för det :P

Good palette, but I think it got a bit too messy around the eye with two different colors, the mouth was also a bit hard to read. Just fixed some minor things on it!

Yeah, I missed the swirls, but I just wanted to point out the important things that was missing haha. I believe that the pink blobs on the head can be done better, like they are now, it's quite hard to find a nice way to shade it. I'll see if there is a better way to make 'em as soon as I get up from bed lol :P

Leduardo PMd me and helped to redo the head of Phytops.
Give credit to me and specialy Leduardo.
It's a good start, though, the sprite is missing depth, more saturated colors, AA and better shading. I did a quick edit on it so you get the point, I hope it helps!

When it comes to make sprites in the Minish Cap style, try to do custom work. With that I mean that don't use another character to edit from, like in this case Link. Every character don't have the same shape and facial expression as Link, that's what breaks a character from one and another. Also, when you are picking your palette, think about using colors with contrast and that can be readable. When I made the edit below, I had a hard time to seperate the colors from the hair, they are just to dark and too close to each other in the color scale. With this being said, I did an edit for you to look at on how it looks with a bit more contrast to the colors.

In order to keep things straight and not make the whole process of making art confusing and what not, there are some rules to follow. As this game uses the graphical style from Minish Cap, the artwork need to be in Wind Waker/Minish Cap style, with that said the technique that is being used is pretty simple.

So, below are the requirements that the artwork must have!
- Each color can only have two shadings, one light and one dark.
- A basic paper texture to bring out the nice look of a Wind Waker styled artwork.

Here is an example:

I think the rooms are a bit too small if you compare Link to them. You can literally walk through the rooms in just a few seconds. My tip is that you guys should take a look at the Majora's Mask version of Deku Palace and try do something similar in size compared to the player.
