Well, I'm sure everybody at ZFGC has played a game featuring clans. Halo 2, or whatever. Clans and Guilds, same thing IMO.

I need to know what they should HAVE and DO. I need as much packed into OoL.

Oh and, as usual, others can use data too (hawthorne?)

there was a menu under "Friends" (like a tab) where you could see who was online, offline, and filter it to only show online or offline. it also showed rank, level, race, and where the person was. oh, and it had a lil thing at the bottom that showed guild news.
also, add a seperator yknow. imma randomly copy and paste from mirc and edit.

<kymtendo> oh good

A guild house is also nice. Perhaps the ability to have a guild-pet? Something which the guild can raise, and use in clan wars to fight as an AI team-member :P

When I was playing Age of Empires II AOK I was in a clan at various points (damn, I wish the Zone still acted as a server for it  :'(). Basically the clan would be like a team. You could have "clan wars", ie 2/3/4 members of one clan against 2/3/4 of another clan. Each clan would have a website and post videos of it's victories etc, thus enabling unrelated people to form "top lists", saying who the top 5/10 clans in the world of AOK were. A clan neeeds a leader of course, to keep it all under control. To join a clan you'd have to beat one of the senior members of the clan, then they can offer you a place.

Yeh, a seperate clan mailing/message system for sure.
A clan could also have its own list of attributes and available clan goals and tasks, that would lead to benefits for members of the clan, usually balanced in one direction.
You could go as far as to say have types of positions in clans, and ranks within that position, and then having seperate benefits for each type of position - By this i mean clan warrior, clan mage etc. Someone with specific duties and who can apply for specific benefits, missions, tasks etc.

They have a guildhouse, where they meet to chill and talk for a while...
They try to make their guild more known, more dominant, gain guild prizes, be aknowledged, become the no.1 guild. That, depending on the guild.
They have fun.
They try to organize inner events. (Mainly parties :D)
Together, they make every single member have a good reason to play the game.

Hmm, anyways, check this: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v668/RubySlayer/Guild/
Good old times, with the best guild I have ever been (for 2 years long).
On most pictures, we do what we most used to do: when we're too lazy to go hunt or do something else, we just go to the Guildhouse's door, where there would be always someone.

Clan- There is 10 player ranks. 0 is unlisted, and you gain no guild XP whatsoever. Giving gold to the guild helps keep the guild alive, and a monthly (in game) fee is required for the guild, making it so you need to constantly have people giving guild or you having enough to spare. It could be 50 gold/member, so say you have 5 members... that's 250 gold deducted.
The higher the rank, the more guild XP you gain. You can add by doing /guildpromote (name, adds higher rank), or guilddemote (name, lowering the rank).
Depending on some servers you can CLANWAR. Clanwars are where you declare war on another guild. You can die anywhere at any time if they opposing guild members are around you (unless you go to town, and town can be a "safe zone")
Guilds have xp gained from members, but only 1/18th of it, making it harder to level. XP is given out every week (in game), and if you log off and come back on the next day your XP will be recieved.
If your ammount in the guildbank reaches less than zero, you can no longer gain XP, and the debt keeps adding up till you pay it off.
Guildland is also possible, but I doubt that will be in the LoZ game.
Guilds also stick together, back each other up, and do missions/quests together.

Hope that helps, AoDC. That's my definition of a Clan.
OH, and to make the guildchat stand out from normal text... make it pink or something.

AoDC will stop at nothing once he sees an oppertunity to benefit the game.
In return, we must wait a while for a demo to come out.
SOUNDS FAIR TO ME. :P

Well, It would be nice to be able to buy houses and add in whatever you want like Tibia :P then they are guild houses even bigger but you need to pay for the house to keep it. Most of the important things have already been mentioned.
