Long Download

I started a download around noontime, and it's only at 29% >_< The kb/s fluctuates from 5 to 20. Is there any way to speed this up without stopping the download and having to completely start over (or if that is necessary, the new download time has to be really freaking fast)? Thanks!

Not really, since download speeds depend on many factors:

Your Internet connection
The website's server.
How many other people are downloading it.
Etc.

Although sometimes programs like download accelterator can speed up downloads some. If your gonna download large files or files that may take awhile, download resume programs are good to use.

Well, I've got broadband, so there's not really a point to a download resume program (unless I misunderstand such a program's purpose). It's not that big a file though. I've honestly downloaded files three times larger in 1/3 the time this one is taking. >_< I guess I'll just wait it out then.

Well, since it's taking so long, you could use a download resumer to pause it and such, although you would of had to use the resumer to start the download first. It's probably taking long because of the server or something. Where are you downloading it from? Is it from a commercial site, like download.com, cnet, etc?

No, it's some obscure site that I've never heard of before. And its Spanish. :P And I probably shouldn't say what it is I'm downloading for fear of bannination (hint: it isn't pr0n).

You won't get banned for saying you're downloading something.

If it's a spanish site, then it's probably located in spain, protugal, etc. Which i assume is located extremely far from you.

You've download managers that let you pause your download and continue it anytime. So that means you can turn your pc off. And when you boot your pc later you can resume your download. But that's not really what you where asking.

Nah, I never turn my "PC" off anyways. And if there's no penalty for mentioning it, its a PSX iso. >:D And yes, Spain and Portugal are pretty damn far away from me, but this is the only place I could find said iso, after days of searching (more like hours, but it felt like days).
