DoublePost Merging?

To bomb or not to bomb... Reputation: +6/-0 Offline Gender: Posts: 4162	Over at RPM, there's an option to merge 2 or more consecutive posts by the same person together. They use the same version of SMF as we do here, so I know it is possible. So why hasn't it been done yet? Logged

Double posting for the most part is fine as long as it is not gratuitous and has a point. Updating a topic, for example, with relevant content may be a double post in some instances, but it brings attention to something that could use it. I am not really sure how post merging works over there or if I am remembering how it works on SMF correctly, but I think that it involves a mod package so it would have to be download and could not simply be set. Of course though, I could be wrong. It hasn't been done here because for the most part it doesn't happen and can be corrected easily when it does.

Reputation: +6/-0 Offline Gender: Posts: 4162	Well at RPM (they use SMF 1.1.5 just like here) there's an option called Double Posts that merges said post with the previous one. It makes a line, and then in small text says the date and time posted like a normal post. The rest of the post then follows. It's quite nice and neat, and it would help make the forums look nicer and more professional, imo. It's mostly just automatic BBCode. This is also so everyone can see what I'm talking about and decide whether or not it looks better than two or three posts unchained. Logged
