Now, don't get me wrong: The film is amazing. Loved almost every minute of it. It's the almost that is the problem.
The ending was just terrible. And I don't mean "Boo hoo" terrible, I don't mean "I was enjoying it so much I was so sad when it ended" terrible, I mean "Dues Ex Machina" terrible. You know the endings where an angel just randomly appears and fixes everything? And how these endings just make the whole story feel pointlessly shite even though up to that point it was awesome? Yeah, it was one of those endings.
I mean, come on!

The prince just comes out of nowhere and announces he will fix every problem. Now, I get that they were going for feel good, but that just destroyed it. If his presence was hinted at more than a "oh, by the way, the prince is gone" at one point in the plot, and if the 'big twist' that the scarecrow was the prince was hinted at even slightly, instead of him just popping out of nowhere, then I'd feel a bit different.

That part of the film wrecked everything from there on out, because you just felt bitter and became extremely cynical and hateful of every soppy romantic moment that followed. And they would have been so grand, instead they became like ash.
Seriously, I know it was a great film for 99% of the time, but why do people, when reviewing the film, completely forget this ending? Are they attacked by amnesia-dust wielding ninjas or what?
