in short:
hiragana is used for all japanese words.
katakana is used for all "stolen" (lol) words. such as table (taberu), tv (terebi), pool (po-ru) etc

verb/adjective etc stems and nouns and pronouns and whatever (which are written in hiragana) can be replaced by kanji (evil in its true form)
