GAH! my baby!!! >_> My computer died on me and now i'm stuck trying to scrape money together so i can get it some new parts! The parts are in my sig. The only problem is that I'm having trouble finding work. (applied all over the freaking place and still no answer)

Ok now onto the juicey details:
Alright I was programming my game (which btw is in GM7) when my computer rebooted it self and when it came back up it said that windows had recovered from a critical error. So I was thinking WTF? I did a repair install and about 50% of the way through it I got the BSOD for a split second. I thought maybe my hardrive had some bad sectors or something so I switched from my 60 gig to my 40 gig and still got the BSOD during windows installation but this time it was during the time I was supposed to input my user name and what not (the windows introduction screen that shows up before XP fully loads for the first time) then I tried narrowing it down i took every part out until I only had the power supply mother board 1 stick of 256 ram, 1 hardrive, and my DVD drive hooked up but I still got the BSOD. so that tells my father and I that i have some serious issues with my computer so instead of just replacing the power supply we are going to replace about 90% of the parts since I've had issues with it in the past.

So I would be grateful if people helped me out of this jam because I may be able to save my Resume and game source if I can get my computer back up and running because my dad won't let me use his Easy IDE adapter to get it.

My PC did that too, but I'm sure it's the power supply. It just goes CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK and on and on until I unplug it.

Mine doesn't do that, but I've had similar problems with this hardware when powered by a different power supply, although the power supply i am currently using is about 3 years old =P

hey, can I have those old parts?  :D  Like the HDD and stuff.  BTW, I actually DO have an extra AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (it's a thoroughbred too, they run cooler), but it needs a socket A/462 and newer processors like the 64 bit and dual cores don't use that.  It's more for the middle-high range single cores.

really? sweet!  Though in chat, you said that you weren't sure if it'd work or not :P  And I don't want to fry that working CPU I mentioned in my previous post.

My dad's computer started restarting, and giving him the blue screen of death randomly.  The problem with his was his memory, every now and then it would crap out and forget something vital to windows, he had to replace it.  I forget what exactly the BSOD message was that he got but I would probably recognize it if I saw it.

If it's your memory, and you have more than 1 stick you could try each one of them seperately.  Hopefully one of them will still work.

I've done it (sorta)!  Bloom Lighting in GameMaker, and 3D mode too!  Check out the awesome Screen Saver.

I tested the ram in another computer (my brothers to be exact) and both stick worked perfectly so I highly doubt it's the ram, Another thing, I purchased a power supply because once I seated the mobo in a newer case with better groundings it worked fine but the voltage was a little low. So i managed to figure out what was going on. BUT i'm still getting a new board and Processor, though that is on the back burner now. Getting a job is more important.
