Favourite Painters?

Yeeah, there must be some guys here interesting in art - so, who are your favourite painters?

Personally, I like:
Rouault - I love his style, the heavy outlines and beautiful colours - I guess this comes from the fact that he was trained as a stained glass artist...


Constable - I recently saw all of his work exhibited in London, and wow - he put so much work into these. They're just amazing, they're like 6 feet wide - I can look at his pics for like 30mins and not get bored o_O I also live near where all these paintings were done, so it's cool to see what they look like in real life too.

Easily MC Esher (though he did more than just paintings) and Salvator Dali.

Edvard Munch. The Scream was awesome, as were his various other paintings... of the same bridge.

(please, please, no-one mention "Puberty"... <_< >_>)

Haha yeeah Munch is good, gotta love Scream - it's just so weird o_O wonder what he's screaming at... but what's wrong with Puberty Pyru? :P

Dali is great too, he did some crazy stuff - I love the way he makes stuff look like faces at a glance, but if you look closely it's jsut loads of random things that have nothing to do with a face...

Hmm, yeah, Toulouse Lautrec has some great stuff.
Of course, I really like Raphael, Michelangelo and Da Vinci too.

Dunno if any of you have ever heard of JMW Turner, but I really love his work. Such as:

Yeah Turner's amazing at capturing the light, one of the best I've seen. The light is one of the most important things in making the atmosphere good, so for me all of his paintings are really full of some sort of emotion. That one above makes me think everything has just suddenly stopped. I dunno, it's really good though.

Several reasons... could be his love relationship that didn't work out (she was married or something), could be because his sister went insane, could be just because he was feeling depressed...
