So I'm using free hosting w/godaddy. I use smartftp and uload a 2.3 mb midi to my website, http://scooternew-media.com. It worked fine. It was something like http://scooternew-media.com/wfa.mid and it worked fine. So I uploaded a 1.7 mb gm6 to my website - and when I tried d/ling it, it said the page/url didn't exist/couldn't be found! Why is this? How long does it have to take for the server to recognize that a new file is uploaded? I Have no idea what could cause this error. Help please.

It should instantly recognise the file, go back into smartftp and check that the file is still there, if it's not perhaps you closed the program before it finished uploading?

And you MIGHT want to check to make sure that you didn't typo on the filename <_<

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

Ok, actually the hosting works fine. It was just a deception all along. Basically, you have to right click and save as to download anything at all - normally, you could just click a link and it'd download it for you. Do you know how to do this, rather than having to right click and save as?

for example

http://scooternew-media.com/gui2.gm6
http://www.scooternew-media.com/gui2.gm6

A GM6 I uploaded to test it (not mine, GearGOD's from the GMC). Right-click save as works fine, going to the page throws an error.

sounds like a host problem, that is a custom 404 page.
I'd suggest talking to your host about it.

If you're paying for hosting then... O.o wtf, ads on a 404 page, if not, make your own.
