Interpol. I think they've got a thing most artists have nowdays with trying to take 2-2:30 minutes of material and make it 3-4 minutes. Because of that they normally end up losing me by the time the song's over. Covers are both pretty good though.
Probably. Their newer stuff is a little bit bland to be honest. I really like their older, long songs - Specialist, Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down and Song Seven come to mind - for the epic feel to the songs and the witty lyricism. I've also always admired the way they can take some very simple riffs and melodies and layer them in a way to make it really sophisticated.
Which, of course, I lose entirely by just playing the bass line solo. Hmm.
Aw, don't be too hard on yourself. They are also four (I think) playing at the same time and you alone would have to either use digital layering or a multi-track (either analog or digital). But I still agree with Kame how repetitive it gets after a while, IMO if one is going to do it repetitive, do it instrumentally but no lyrics. That way you can develop it at the same time, which is a lot harder for lyrics (and they only get in the way). But that was more of an advice for Interpol; you were just doing a cover
I have never heard the originals of the other two songs, and have only really "heard about" Bright Eyes. But anyway, that doesn't matter, because it was quite good what you did. And it wouldn't be fair to compare with the originals anyway.
Keep it up!
