This will probably come to be a debate about the nature of US law enforcement and/or gun laws, but at the moment, I'd just like to say this is very sad.

meh I dont particularly think this *should* become a debate on US law enforcement, considering a police officer is responsible for his or her actions, and should not reflect ALL of the US law enforcements actions :P

but yes, very very sad :\

My point was that someone who could become a deputy and was presumably issued a firearm by his force was clearly mentally unbalanced enough to kill that many people; clearly, the force was stringent enough.

I'm more for a "Cameras on everyone and everyone with a chip in their head that knocks them out if they step out of line" person, but my plans for world domination will have to wait I guess.

The parents of the victims are left alone with good memories about their son/daughter. While the parents of the murderer are left on this world knowing that their son killed 6 innocent people... That must be a heavy burden to carry with you...

This is quite possibly the most close minded statement ever posted on this board. Tell me, Mr. Burgers, have you ever experienced death first hand? Have you seen someone die with your own eyes at the hands of another? I highly doubt that you have. I'm fairly confident that in all of your 17 years of existence, you have never experienced death in such a way.

That is a VERY good idea. People should have complete trust in those who are trying to uphold the law and its rules. I think it goes without saying that it should.

Agreed. I think police officer\'s should go through psychological analysis as well as other training. That way something like this won\'t happen again.
