Okay, so my ethernet cable is not faulty, the drivers are up to date, it's activated and supposed to be working, and it STILL doesn't work with my PS2's network adapter. I've tried everything obvious (yet, I bet I'll still get some "did u restart"s in this topic...) Can anyone please tell my why it's not being detected?

Maybe the PS2's network adapter is bad?

Do you have a way of confirming that your cat5 cable is fine? Are both ends crimped properly and all of that, no funky bends in the wires anywhere? Sometimes they can be faulty in one place and not faulty in another... it depends on how the PS2 uses it communicate with the router. I don't know off hand, it might be standard, the way the computer's communicate with it, i've never really looked into the matter.

I'd check the PS2 adapter, to see if it was working, that'd be my guess on what the issue is.

Okay, this is a nightmare. NONE of the ports in the house seem to be working. I tried 3 wires. One was in kinda bad condition, the others were fine. None worked when I tested connecting a laptop to a desktop, a laptop to the adapter, and the desktop to the adapter. I have no idea what's wrong, and it really sucks, because I really want to play Final Fantasy XI, on my PS2, and it cost 100 dollars. The adapter cost 50, but it was new, and worked all the time before. I never bumped it to have it work this bad. I have no clue.

If its new perhaps you should take it back and tell them it seems to no longer be working?

Sounds like the adapter to me, or something on your router that would prevent it from working correctly, like a not open port.

Firewall isn't on, I'm connection sharing... but Ken told me I might need a crossover cable. Might. I haven't used one in the past, though, so I'm still not sure about the chipset being able to convert automatically.

Are you sure your outlets are Ethernet outlets and not Phone outlets? I had to have mine converted when I switched to hardwire.

Of course I'm sure. A ethernet cable doesn't suddenly branch off into a phone cable. And if you mean I'm using the wrong cable, no, I am not, I am 100% sure,

Other hardware or drivers may be interfering (which happened to my friend's network card and mine).

If you can remember any changes, roll them back (even graphics card updates stuff them up... somehow...)
