Help me decide what PS3 game I should get

So I just finished auctioning off my Wii and now have enough money to get a PS3 and one game.  I can't decide what to get and thought a poll might help me.  I'm won't necessarily buy the game that gets the most votes, but it should make my decision much easier.  BTW, please don't post stuff like "Buy a 360", because I've made my mind up about getting a PS3.

I would pick The Orange Box without a second thought, but I've heard the PS3 version has a lot of frame-rate issues, so I'm not sure about that.  The same thing goes for Assassin's parkour, plus it has gotten somewhat mixed reviews.  Call of Duty 4 it supposed to be really fun, but I'm not a big fan of WWII shooters, so I dunno.

The rest of the games listed don't really have anything that I'm worried about and are supposedly good, but I'm still not sure.  Right now I'm leaning toward R&CF:ToD or Oblivion, but I'm having a hard time making up my mind.

Thoughts?  Also feel free to mention other games that I didn't put as options in the poll.

Call of Duty 4 isn't a WW2 shooter. It's based on a fictional futuristic war. Very good game.

Orange Box was brutalized on the PS3. Where the Xbox 360 has 3-second loads, the PS3 version has 17-second ones. I'm not kidding!

I'd say get Uncharted.


Or no actually.. Get Warhawk! Unreal game.

I admittedly don't have a PS3, but from what I've played, I would buy Ratchet and Clank first. I just love that series, and the new one is a blast.

Reviews IMO aren't all that great, I have no idea why they rated AC so low.

If FF13 were out, I'd suggest that, but instead I'll say Ratchet and Clank.

I liked the ones on the PS2... :3

There's not much on the PS3 right now... but if anything I'd say Resistance. It's a nice solid shooter. Yeah. I was going to get a PS3 once upon a dream. Now I'm getting a 360.

I think part of it is probably because reviewers have to rush through games as fast as possible, but maybe AC is one of the games that doesn't lend itself well to what is essentially a speed-run.  I'm pretty interested in trying it out, but I think I'll have to rent it first to make sure I want to buy it.  I've heard a lot of people mention frame-rate and texture pop-in issues on the PS3 version and that worries me, (mainly frame-rate).  How bad is it?

So far I'm thinking I'll end up getting R&C, mainly because I loved the previous ones so I'm pretty sure I'll be satisfied with it. I still have a day or two to decide until PayPal transfers the money from the Wii to my bank account, so keep the comments coming.

You forgot to mention GTAIV.  8)  BTW, has KH3 been official announced yet?  I think it can be assumed that it will come eventually either way.  I'll just have to play 1 and 2 first... <_<

I'd really like to get a 360 just because of the size of it's current library, but I'm an RPG guy, (not too big on shooters--I like them but they're not my favorite, if they were the 360 would be a shoe-in), and I think PS3 will end up with many more than the 360...plus I want a Blu-Ray player. :P

Anyway, I suggest the following in order:

1. Ratchet and Clank (<3333 the PS2 games, I'm sad I can't get them for the PSTriple)
2. Assassin's parkour (played the 360 version, it's AWESOME!)
3. Unreal Tournament III (UT is always a great game, this version is no different...and you can download and make your own maps!)
4. Oblivion (the PC version is far superior though because of mods, and is easily...acquired :P)
5. Uncharted (It looks like so much fun, but I think it's supposed to be sort of short? Correct me if I am mistaken)
6. CoD4 (I've heard it's good, but it doesn't look all that new or original to me)

The PS3 is gradually shaping up to be a great system...now I wish I could afford one :(

Why do people get so pissy over "killer app" games that are rated less than 9.5?

It got a 7.5- that's a good score. OH WHY DID THEY RATE IT SO LOW? So if you got 75% on a test, would you really think that's so low? I'm not just aiming this at you Halu, but at gamers in general.

Maybe.  It still looks fun so I'll have to at least rent it some time to see how it is for myself.  Also, thank you for not mentioning Nintendo.  :D

Fair enough.  I'm mainly concerned about scores right now because I only have enough for one game.  7.5 is a pretty good score, it just seems kinda low because IGN is so polar with its reviews; they usually rate games really high or really low it seems like.

EDIT:
It seems that The Orange Box is getting a lot of votes.  I'm still worried about all the frame-rate and loading issues I've heard about with the PS3 version.  Does anyone have it for PS3 that would care to comment on that?
