I'll watch on the Homebrew sites when a new update is released to see if it will brick my Wii. And if the new updates does, I can remove everything before I apply the update.

Yes indeed... It really IS time to buy Twilight Princess... Even though I already beat it (friend's. It's how I play my games nowadays! D: Except for Dragon Quest and Brawl... DQ needs the recognition and Brawl was just too awesome...)

The music on the homebrew channel is terrible.

I don't think anyone gives a damn about the music.

Yeah I agree! who cares about the music? the fact that you can easily get Wiiware and VC game and so much more for free through the Homebrew Channel is much more important.

No way in hell this will lead to nintendo bricking wiis.

No hardware modding is required, nintendo can't brick Wiis because of the homebrew channel, it's just as likely as the Mii channel bricking wiis.

Anywho, the wii scene is progressing very nicely, external HDD support is making strides which will be great for media players and perhaps an iso loader in the future.
Impressive that anyone can easily create their own channel and have it look just like the official ones already, hopefully it won't be too long before homebrew games specifically for Wii and maybe some tech demos

edit-

It's hard to say if they ever will need to.
Custom channels are already working, if they can put an iso loader together a custom firmware will probably never be needed

I already have most emulators and apps that I would need. I'm pretty much set. The scene is a little slower than the PSP development. Maybe we need a LUA port?

Well, I upgraded to the latest firmware because PSP homebrew got to be a pain. So is Wii homebrew, but it's too precious to lose.

*watches the next firmware update destroy this channel*

Nintendo has never supported development using unlicensed tools. Why wouldn't they update to prevent this?

It's not easy to create a channel! allot work has been done before the Homebrew Channel became reality!

Yeah but it's not really a reality. It's an unofficial, unlicensed channel. How long do you expect it to last? o.0;;

I find it very humorous that people actually think developing software for the Wii using unofficial devkits will actually get them somewhere when Nintendo frowns upon it. I mean, sure its a step forward for emulation, but realistically this channel is not going to last long as Nintendo will quickly block it out

I don't think Nintendo has any idea what the state of Homebrew is on the Wii otherwise they would've done something already. OR they know what's going on and can't really do much about it.

Nintendo can't stop homebrew on the wii, thanks to Twilight Princess it's already much too late.
Unless they go door to door confiscating copies of the game.

They will probably block the channel eventually, but it will be a few days tops before it's back again

worst case scenario: custom firmware.
