Minish Cap Ripping / Organizing Project

Many MC sprites have yet to be ripped, and many of the ones that are ripped are not organized. This topic is dedicated to the organized ripping of MC sprites (and the organization of already ripped sprites).

Rules
  • Each frame of the same animation must be the same size.
  • The size of each animation must be clearly marked.
  • Any use of someone else's rips must be within the rules of the original ripper.
  • Give credit to the original ripper.

I recognize that the darknut has many animations. In order to ease the ripping process for everyone, I'm creating a special spot for the different animations here. Anyone can submit a single animation, however they must be organized as stated above, and they must be colored like the most basic darknut (gray with no red). I've attached the different colors to make recoloring sprites easier (EDIT: I realized that the rips I attached for recoloring were not colored exactly. I'll try to rip some of the same pose myself.). When an animation is ripped, I will link to it in the following list. When all animations are ripped, I will make a single sheet out of them, of course giving credit to all contributors.

There is a Mulldozer on the forums somewhere and is a great rip, forgot where it was.

also you missed a animation for the darknut, it has two sword slashed slashes
-Verticle Slash
-Horizontal Slash

Also there isn't a walking animation, there is an idle animation that is also used for moving.
There is also a waiting animation, and a sword draw animation.

I'll be volunteering my services.  I managed to crack the data formats of Golden Sun's sprites, and rip all of them directly from the games data, I don't see why the same couldn't be done here.  Considering Minish Cap's graphics aren't even compressed it should be easier.

Progress update!

I've located the data, and figured out most of the necessary formats.  So I can get the raw image data now, and even match palettes to most sprite sets, there are some that I can't though.  There are some sprite sets that don't seem to point to their data the way the rest of them do either, so I can't get to them yet.  It would also be nice if I could figure out the animation data format so I could automatically group individual sprites together by them.

It just reads the binary data from the game and draws it, nothing fancy.  Standard 4-bit GBA graphic format: 4 bits to a pixel sequentially from top left to bottom right per 8x8 tile.  There's separate data that arranges the 8x8 tiles into a complete sprite, I'm away from my computer right now though so I don't have the exact format at the moment.  I can get it and the addresses to the data in the US version of the game for you later if you want.

Man thats really nice... I can wait to see more...
With this we can organize the enemies on MC enginer.
We create subsidies for those who want to create and explore more Hyrule in MC style.
