Im not sure if this is the right place to post so if anything move it for me or something...whatever.

So I was thinking and i thought
im aware that their are 3 oot2d currently being worked on,but suppose one them
finish while the others are still WIP.what happens to the rest. They are probubly not going to get alot of attention afterwards,so what is this like a race or something?

I think they'd move on to something different. Either switch the graphics so it's like OotMc/OotGB or delete everything but the engine and start MM2d/WW2d.

If something is finished, why continue it?

if it's a "race to the finish" then they're probably going to end up close to each other (assuming they don't die), if your almost done would be kind of silly to just drop it because someone else finished before you.

2 reasons,
graphics and gameplay.

How about "What happens if any good-quality Zelda fangame gets finished at all?" To be honest, I think that the first OoT2D to get done will be the worst of those to come.

I hope that when the first OOT2d is finished, it's not due to it being a race. That would ruin the quality of the game, and for that reason I'd hope the other OOT2d makers would continue their versions, so to improve on the rushed first game.

Why are we talking about a race huh? TRM is almost done and I'm 100% sure it will be perfectly done.

TRM *says* he's almost done, but let's be honest, he's been saying that since 2003.

That's true, but i suspect he is not working on it at a dedicated rate anymore, just doing some when he feels like it. Either it'll get released or it won't, and luckily, either way it won't matter.

Planes of Chaos the mmorpg and Zelda Game Maker. (Which both don't seem to go anywhere)

yea, I think that was the game he was working on lately, I remember going to his forum name chaos something(dont know if is an old or new forum).
he seemed focus on that chaos one.
To be honest I dont really think that oot2d is going anywhere, when the idea came out everybody was pretty into it, but time has passed and there is nothing new about it, and now there are a lot of remakes of it which pretty much kill the idea and it doesnt make it "original" anymore.

If TRM's OoT2D is indeed as good as finished that would certainly make people abandon a lot of fan projects for a while (ofcourse also to play it)

But it could also inspire more people.

egh

I used to look forward to trms oot2d, but after all the hijinks and shenanigans Im sick of it, so sick of it I dont want to play it anymore and I dont want to play any of the knock-offs either.

lets face it people, re-making a 3d game in 2d isnt very creative to begin with, but doing the same exact thing, let alone several people already doing it is flat out stupid.

I agree, but I will still play the fangames. They just aren't as fun as original ones where you play a quest that you don't already know how to beat.
