Perhaps, as a general rule, one out of every two or three posts may/should use Dug's emotes, and moderators may remove them if they feel they're used excessively... the problem is it's too much work.

As much as I love Dug's emotes, I think the best choice is just to remove them all together. They've kinda lost their charm anyway, because these certain members overuse them. >_>

But overusing them isn't a good thing.

I agree about the part about linkw not being able to use them >_>

Not in a specific sense like that though. When a member abuses them, it's silly to say that it's 'unfair' to ban that member. If someone is doing something wrong, it's not unfair to single them out for doing it.

Lately, every time I've seen the emoticons, they've just seemed...n00bish to me, essentailly. I think it's because of people like linkw (although I Can't think of anyone else who really abuses them as much) using them in every post. So every time I see them, I lose respect for the person who uses them...

I can no longer imagine a case where they could be used in a useful way, but I think that other people here probably have a better imagination than me so I'm not saying to remove them.

maybe if i made more, like the crap talking one on the old zfgc. that one could be used in relevence to the post, idk, but it REALLY fuckin' bothers me the way ppl like linkw204 use them. its like i've created a monster or somthing...

As much as some of us want to ban the ass of anything and anyone that uses the animated emotes, that would be completely unfair. This whole situation wouldn't be such a big deal if it wern't for the excessive flaming that followed. This forum has a report button; use it! Until new rules are divised on emoticon usage, please report any posts with abuse so it would help mods in determining what the best course of action will be.

you just did

constantly using the same emo on every post that it isnt needed on should be considered spam, it is a cool emote and I've used it a few times along with the others. but seriously the constant use of them with no meaning towards this is ridiculous. STOP PEOPLE and let us enjoy something fun, don't ruin something great.

this actually reminds me the other day but Issac, no offense to you, you're pretty cool, but I posted an image that was the more you know logo and it was about a day issac spammed it but all I had to do was tell him to calm down and he stopped so basically we should just tell people to quit spamming the emotes, and if they don't follow the rules, give them a warning, three times then a freeze on the account if the problem continues well, I would hope it wouldn't go as far as a ban.

I find it weird that people with aannoying sigs, who obviously have themw ith every post don't get the same problems.. its not that different.

well see the signature is always there, you can turn it off somewhere in your settings if it bugs you. but see its something like this

so and so posts a topic like
"My friend died saturday in a car crash. I'll be gone for awhile."

then someone goes
"I'm sorry to hear that :jellytime:"

now you tell me that's the same case as a signature?

why complain about a signature, now I do admit that some peoples signatures are completely huge and have too much junk. but with the emotes like I said before are just constantly being used. I was going to leave for a bit but I was instantly bored. =P

anyways Link has stopped the emote spamming but rules should still be applied.

Good point, and to hbrandinewm, can't you turn off emotes too? There should be a feature to turn off just the animated ones.
