Just a quick pop in, guys.

I got a couple of months until I probably head off for college some 1000miles away.
I still work at the crappy pizza place.

Really, I am just here to ask for anime suggestions.  As some of you may or may not remember,
I am a huge Gundam nerd.  I've went through and rewatched X, Wing, SEED, SEED Destiny, and finally watched 00 through for the first time.(Which by the way is an amazing anime once you get through the first ten episodes...*spoiler* never seen as many main characters die in a Gundam series.)

I rewatched Elfen Lied for the first time on over a year...forgot how good that was.
Gone through DBZ again....good stuff.

Basically, I am looking for an anime that has a good story that doesn't quite come at you point blank.  Such as having story shifts where someone was a good guy turns out to be a bad guy the whole time...Something like that where towards the end of the series you slowly begin to put the pieces together yourself.
I am not looking for anime that has random episodes...I hate that crap.
Dark themes are a plus but not necessary.

Pretty much...something that has two sides fighting(doesn't have to be mechs) with total plot twists and/or a struggle between characters.

Kinda rambled but if one of you guys have a suggestion, I'm all ears...

Five Centimeters Per Second. It doesn't seem like much of the stuff you watch, but as someone who's not a fan of anime, I really enjoyed it. There's no big twist, but the story has a lot of meat on it in terms of its themes and overtones.

Mushishi, Ergo Proxy and Beck are all great shows. Just steer clear of Saikano.

I'm watching Medabots right now, really early in so I'll be on it for a while.

I'm planning on watching Spice and Wolf and Bakemonogatari next. A few friends told me both are good and I mean, Spice and Wolf has Horo. |3c

Yeah, well, basically every anime fan in the West is familiar with that series. I think a suggestion thread would be better of with less known series.

I'm not too fond of most anime, but I enjoyed Code Geass.  It's got battling robots, war, twists, and unbelievable epicness.

It was recommended to me by a friend who's obsessed with anime, having seen every episode of probably every anime you've ever heard of lol.

The very stereotypical anime high-school parts were annoying though.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is sort of a mind f*** if you like twists, and arcing storylines. Have to watch Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai as well if you do. It's violent tho, if you don't like that stuff :P

There's a lot more anime fans that don't know what it is than you think.  Especially those that got into anime through Bleach and Naruto, as most fans under the age of 18 did.

Some good movies/OVAs are:
* Voices of a Distant Star (A love story AND Giant Mecha fighting aliens, what more do you want? ^^)
* 5 Centimetres per Second
* The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
* Ghost In The Shell 1
* Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence
* Blood: The Last Vampire
* Anything by Studio Ghibli
* All the OVAs from the Hellsing Ultimate series (much better than the anime series amd it's very faithful to the original Manga)

Some good anime series off the top of my head are:
* Ouran High School Host Club (sure it's probably too kiddy for you, but it's a giant dig at shojo anime and rather hilarious ^^)
* Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (as mentioned above)
* Vampire Knight

In case you can't tell I have a very broad spectrum of Anime I like XD

This nearly turned me off of the entire series.

Ah, and listen to TheDarkJay. The Girl Who lept through time is a classic.

Watched the first episode of Gurren Lagann....  Not bad, but a touch too much kidding around.
Not enough adult themes and emotions displayed.  It's funny, don't get me wrong but I like more serious anime...  I am going to watch a few more episodes to try to get into it.

BTW, it's awesome that alot of companies are putting the animes up on youtube.
Bandai has alot of their anime up...just have to watch commercials.

Yes YES. Give it a chance. It's definitely too good to just stop at the first episode imo.

DJ speaks truth.

Really though, I happen to like the kidding around stuff. To me, the foolish-like stuff is a critical element in any Anime. "Serious" Anime takes the fun out of it for me. ::)
