What the hell this is:
Since my last topic dissapeared (how do you spell that 'kin word?)
i decided i should make a new one. In school me and two blokes are doin this project which is pretty much that we are covering NES music. News since last time is that i made one of those fancy myspace sites for our project, so now you dont have to wait 30 sek on a crappy file-hosting site anymore! Yay...

Updates. Like we say in sweden, i finally got my thumb out of my butt and uploaded the cubasemixed version of all the songs. This is it. School is out forever and there will not be any more songs, im afraid. But i hope you enjoy the ones we did as much as we enjoyed doin them.

Thank you,
Robin.

Completed and uploaded songs:
Megaman - Woodman stage
Super mario bros 1 - Overworld theme
Legend of zelda - Main theme
Little Nemo - The dream master (stage 1)

Nice job guys!  Is this live?  You're doing a pretty good job with it, although I might be slightly biased due to the fact that I love videogame remixes, especially this tune in particular.

I've heard a few songs from the Little Nemo soundtrack, but I don't know them by name.  Perhaps for future tracks you remix, you could offer an NSF download for the game in question, specifying which track the song is.  It also might be good to link to SlickNSF, which is a nice and simple standalone NSF player that's only 100 kb in size.  There's also an NSF plugin for Winamp on the same site called NotSoFatso which is more accurate, but SlickNSF doesn't require the user to use Winamp.  I don't have the links for the site in question handy, so just Google for them.

What do you mean I need a life?  =P  Hm... Lives... Isn't that something that you get in Super Mario Bros?  You know, those green mushrooms?  That's a life, right?

Well, i assume that most of the people who would appreciate this have already heard the original songs. But if they really want to compare, i have ripped all the songs we are supposed to record to MP3??s, just dont know where to put em.

Yeah man, I thought this topic would have seen more attention.

I like how you guys are paying attention to all the NES channels and trying to get the notes right, though there are quite a few signs that you could use a bit more practice to tighten your playing.

If you ever feel like taking the next step to remixing or re-arranging these songs, I'd recommend trying the song "Border Jump" from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It's the SMB1 theme but with a 4th voice, and cooler drumming. I made a MIDI but vgmusic.com seems to have nixed it. :P

Another recommendation: CarboHydroM is a 1-man band who does similar stuff, but with a little more punk-rock edge and some polished production. He's also done some SMB, Mega Man, and Zelda themes, but my fave is "StarFox Forever".

I am very avare of that the songs and production isnt flawless. We dont have much time to do this (about 2 hours a week) in school, so we cant put so much time on each song. So i don??t think we will have any time to do that other mario song, but hey, thanks for the tip =) Could you send me the midi file in some way? Would be nice to atleast check it out.

Man, that CarboHydroM dude made me feel so pointless, thanks alot =P

Then my work is done. ;D

Yeah, I know what it's like to make music in a rush. I was doing the score for a film project in high school and had to come up with a few songs including an electric guitar-laden theme for a battle scene... I just plugged in and hacked away - without a metronome. Fixing up the timing errors in the mix probably took longer than doing it right would have. :P

MIDI for ya: http://noproblo.dayjo.org/MLSS_Border_Jump2.mid
I cranked up the drums and switched them to a clearer set for this version.

Great work :D.
CarboHydroM is a !@#$% legend. It makes me want to force my mates to learn the music and play it live. I'd love to play video game music live lol. :D
