It's pretty easy to download RAM, there are just a few simple steps:
1) Make sure you turn off your speakers. The electricity that runs through them causes electro-magnetism, and when you're downloading RAM, it's extra sensitive to EMF. If you can, unplug any extra electronics you have near your computer, and remove all extra peripherals from your computer - microphone, joypads, etc. Make sure that you only have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor plugged into your computer. (and your modem obviously).
2) Download the program RTARM. Do a google search, I forget the link. Install it into your c:\program files directory.
3) Run the 'gRam.bat' file in the /sys directory, directing it to the c:\program files\RTARM\parse directory. If you don't do this, the RAM may erase your harddrive when you download it. Running this syncs your computer with a RAM download.
4) Hit the 'search for RAM batch' button after running the .bat. A list of RAM nodes will appear; find three that all have the same symbol next to them (common symbols that are easy to find include ??, L, 8, and ~). After you have downloaded all three, you will need to COMPILE the RAM. Fortunately, RTARM has a functionality that does this for you.
5) open RTARMCMP.exe, and find the files that you just downloaded, dragging them into the white window. The RAM will be in shapes that look somewhat similar to exceptionally jagged tetrist blocks; this is because you have downloaded fragments of other peoples RAM, and they usually lose some data in the transfer (thus why you need three). Start arranging them in a way that they take up the entire white area. You may have to download more RAM if you are missing any space. Be sure that there is no white space left, then hit the 'compile' button.
6) Open your CD-Drive, and insert a blank CD-R. Be sure that there is no ink on the CD-R, and that it isn't scratched. Hit the 'backup' button in the compiler program. (this is not necessary, but I highly suggest you try, because there is a pretty good chance that the RAM will break when yuo install it onto your computer, and it is best ot have a backup.)
7) Close all programs and drag the RAM onto 'my computer'. It will probably seem to freeze for a moment; this is your computer detecting the new hardware. If it stops responding for more than 10 minutes, unplug your computer. If your computer tries to install it for too long, it may overheat and the Motherboard could melt. If you have to unplug your computer, give it about an hour to cool down. You will lose the RAM you downloaded; this is why I suggest you burn it onto a disc. And the disc has to be in good condition, as a couple scratches can make your RAM actually slow your computer down.
After you have successfully installed the RAM, restart your computer, and it should have the extra RAM installed.
My computer has 7 GB RAM now thanks to doing this a few times =D
