looking through some old zelda stuff thers a kingdom of calatia, is this cannon

It was the name given to the land from the original The Legend of Zelda when the Adventure of Link was released (because AoL's overworld became Hyrule). It's supposedly canon, but not many fans know about it so I can't be sure...

I think it comes from the old comics and animated series, in those, Calatia is the land where Link originally comes from. Don't think it applies to the games though.

i thought the original zelda happened in the lower hyrule where nobody lived. i saw a map from a comic which used that idea but had a thing on the west side saying 2 calatia

I don't think it's canon. There isn't really much consistency in Zelda, and I don't think there's supposed to be.
