I have an NPC that I want to follow Link's path, and I could do this by recording Link's position every few points if Link is moving and have the NPC go there. This is way more complicated than I would like it to be. Does anyone have suggestions for how this can be done?

Depends on the language for exact syntax, but you can just take Link's X,Y, coordinates and just say like NPC X, Y-2... something like that.

I think mit had a good engine explaining how to do this well, I'll see if i can find it.

Edit: Here it is, I think: http://www.kousougames.co.uk/data/downloads/counter.php?file=Following
It's GameMaker 6, but if you're using some other language and have GameMaker you could probably look at the technique anyways.
