Apple would probably closer to best if the guys wouldn't permanently try to make Apple look like a lifestyle or a religion. The ad-campaign showing people who were explaining how they were too dumb to handle a PC and changed to Apple because... I don't know, actually, they never gave an actual reason, other than "it worked" - that campaign pissed me off.
Not saying Windows is much better though. And Windows won't die. As long as there are enough ignorant people who believe that Windows-OS' are innovative and new. It's really easy to disprove people who claim that Windows Vista is AWESOME to work with because of its handy functions like the window-switching and the side-bar and the COOL GRAPHIX and whatever. Nothing about this is innovative.
MSPaint? No.
•No layers (not necessary, but very handy)
•Horrible color choosing system
•No transparency
•Ridiculous zooming
•Bad selection tools (!!)
Considering making sprites and pixel-based work, Paint isn't bad at all.
Layers: Useful, but you could also just make backups of what you're working on.
Color-choosing: Not as horrible as you might think. As long as I have a colour-spectrum to click at and an RGB-input-option, everything's fine.
Transparency: Yes, true. But whatever you use it for in the end, it usually doesn't matter that you can't make it transparent in Paint.
Zooming: Let's just say it's limited, not bad. And very weird. Like, the first zooming you use when you open up Paint can never be chosen again once you picked another zooming. And don't forget the x10-zooming options, haha.
Bad Selection tools? Explain.
I just wish any of those pixel-programs would be available for several OS'.
