I just felt like seeing what the community thinks...

I like XP Home and Vista Home Premium. Vista really isn't that bad. The only problem I've encountered with it so far is that my trusty TASCAM US-122 won't install on Vista, which means I need to either get my XP laptop fixed (again <_< ), use the hard-drive solution mentioned in an earlier topic, or get a new interface... (but hey, I can get a Firewire one this time XD)

If you say vista is good I too will kill a kitten. Not meaning to jump onto the Bash OS bandwagon. But Vista. Is. Terrible.

I like XP Pro. I would get Vista but it's got a lot of bugs I heard from a friend. I think XP Pro and Home would be good to use.

I haven't used Vista at all, but I've seen and heard things about it. I had XP Pro before, (new computer now and my dad hasn't installed XP and I can't find the disc and don't know how to set it up) and I know it's good. If you like Vista then you should get it. And if you can't get your XP laptop fixed, then maybe get XP on your computer if you can't install that program or whatever.

If you've the choice then get XP! Vista sucks at compatibility with Programs and Games.

XP Pro for at least another year or two. Vista still has way too many kinks to be ironed out, and my computer, though excellent for XP, is not where I'd want it to be for Vista.

In b4 "MICROSOFT HATES US ALL LOLOLOLOLOO" !@#$% you, I want compatibility.

XP will run less resources and stuff like that, though it lacks features by default.

If you're not concerned about resource usage or that stuff, go with Vista. It's pretty sweet.

The US-122? It's a recording interface... I downloaded the drivers from a website, was that close to having it installed, when a popup appeared saying "Cannot install on this version of Windows." I was pissed >_<

And anyone else who says Vista is buggy, well, yeah, a little bit, but not so much. But there are some compatibility issues, like with my interface. I don't even know if the Cubase LE program that came with it will install on Vista. I'm thinking about dual-booting XP on my other hard drive (my new comp has two hard drives, each 125GB each ^_^ )

And I hear SP1 is coming out soon.

XP Sp3 and Vista Sp1 are both coming Q4 07/Q1 08... or maybe Sp3 for XP is out I don't know.

Windows XP is still the best OS from Microsoft in my opinion.

I've used Vista Home Premium since Launch, and it'd be the best if it weren't for compatibility and memory problems [well, whoring rather].

My votes for XP Pro and Vista Home Premium.

XP Pro. I run Home Edition with SP2 myself but I'd never use Vista unless someone gave me a rockin' gaming rig. Just because I'd break down and install Halo 2 and Shadowrun eventually.

Just kidding. I'd install XP anyway. Those games can die as long as I have Call of Duty 4 and the Orange Box.

I seriously wouldn't advise using Vista what so ever. Until the release there service pack, then mayne check a few reviews(obviously non biased) about how good it is.

I've had terrible problems with Vista >_>

Coming from a tech's view point, I'm most comfortable with XP Pro; It's a reallly good operating system that rarely lets me down. I have Vista Ultimate running on a test machine, really haven't got to play with it much, so I don't have a strong opinion about it. Thinking about trying some version of Linux just to try it, I have plenty of older machines that would benefit from the easier hardware requirements.

Vista's compatibility with XP programs is on par with the latest version of Wine, or say I'd say. So if I'm after a decent OS (which I am) I go with GNU/Linux. If I'm after perfect Windows compatibility I'll use 2000 or XP.
Not really.

Using up more resources to be less compatable (even if you include spending ages to get stuff that should take seconds to work "compatable") doesn't appeal to me atm O_o
