Guitar Picks?

I'm wondering which ones you guys use, and why.

Well, I usually lose my picks anywhere, so I buy a lot of them. And some of them break too fast. For example, the Ibanez beginner picks (which are included in the Ibanez Jumpstart kit). They are very great to use, but they break while playing instantly in like 3 hours.

Which one do you suggest too?

Don't get the thin ones, or the thick ones but thick ones are usually good. I use the middle ones.

1. Because the thin ones break easier

2. Middle ones don't break as often

3. Thick ones (from what my dad told me) if they're really thick they can mess up or maybe break some strings if you strum hard and fast.

I use either Jazz picks or 2mm dunlops (thats very thick)
jazz picks are smaller than normal picks, are relatively thick and are usually pointier than normal picks.
The downside of these is that your thumb can hit the string by accident(this also makes them excellent for pinch harmonics) and they are easier to drop.
Of course if I'm doing lots of strumming I'll use a lighter pick though.

I use dunlop...uh can't remember what mm it is. I don't like the really thin ones because it makes it sound awful when you play and I don't like the really thick ones because they have too much resistance to the strings. IMO I think its best to have a pick that can bend, just not very easily.

Won't thick picks break your strings if you pick too hard?

Dunlop .58mm is chill too by the way.

I used to use a Dunlop .5 mm, probably the same .58 you mentioned TRD, but now I use a Gibson Medium. It doesn't specify the thickness, but I'm guessing it's about the same. It's black with nice gold writing on, and nice and small too.

I use dunlop .46mm, i like thin picks, i find it easier to strum with them and like the sound they make, its a really clean sound. I Used to use .71mm dunlops but I didnt like them.

My favorite is a purple one with the brand worn off, and I don't remember what it is. It's kind of medium thickness though. And when I buy new ones I usually just get Dunlop.

Haha...

I got my bass for my birthday, my best friend gave me a purple dunlop. I still have it, i carry it around in my pocket, I don't play it much anymore.. but its a medium sized one too, the turtle is worn off though.. mostly.

If you break strings with thick picks you are picking WAY harder than you should

I use Fender medium picks.  Resilience and the bendiness of the pick are very important factors; they have to be durable, but also must be able to return their shape when they pick the string.  I find heavy picks to be more difficult to work with due to their smaller bendiness factor.

I use all different kinds of picks, but I prefer medium-gauge Fender or Dunlop picks. I only use thin picks when playing stumming songs on an acoustic, and heavy picks when playing arpeggio songs like Good Riddance.

I'll use any pick. I'm good with any kind as long as their not too flimsy or too dull.
