"DIAL-UP IS TOO SLOW FOR ZFGC. "
Not really... except the topics that have a crap load of images.
I use dial up and i dont ever really mind the speed of it. Hell yeah i like DSL and cable better but im too cheap to change.

Plus the best thing about dial up is that i can point and laugh at those comcast slowskies and say "HAH! I'm........ SLOWER! Than you! yes."
o.o;
im in such denial.......

Um. No.

Cable can be worse or better than DSL, depending on how many users there are on the cable.  And T1> everything! n__n

(I have DSL btw)

T1 is unique because it is 1.5mb up and download speed (per second), it is really expensive too because of its upload speed. Its not really that fast, My connection is faster but it goes through a router that slows it down with internet protection

DIAL-UP IS TOO SLOW FOR ZFGC was more of a joke to explain Dd's lack of activity. In reality you can't blame dialup on it because on SMF ZFGC I had the most active account on ZFCG for weeks (on 28kbps).
Explain how you survived with 28k... please. O___o

The lowest I've ever had was 56k and even when it was all I knew I thought it was sloooooow... Just got my (I think cable) 800-ishk around the time we moved to SMF, and it rules.

T1 is not greater than everything. T2 is greater than T1 and T3 is greater than T2. And apparently theres something faster than T3 but I don't know what it is. God I hate having dial up, but my dad is too cheap to get DSL or cable.

How could it be free? Are you aware that you will have to dial in? The membership to an ISP may be free a lot of the time, though the time you spend online will be added to your phonebill.

I get 1.5 up and 1.5 down every single time now matter how many users are online ( which is usualy about 6 ppl playing games and surfing the net). It never goes down, slows down and we get 10 static IP addesses wich now i'm running my own web server. I would not recemend it to someone unless they were real power users like my family is. As for it being expensive, my father got a really good deal with a provider where he knows the company's owner and pays $250 a month.
He's thinking of getting another line so that we can have 3mb.

I have you all beat. I once had a 2400baud modem, circa 1992. Note that the speed (or lack thereof) didn't hold me back: I still played RPGs and Red Baron online, checked email, etc.

Ah, the halycron days of my youth.

I have a 486 in the basement that has an 18.8 modem.  Wow, and at one point we all considered it blazing fast.
