Whilst in highscool, I was on the soccer team.
I was the goalie by tenth grade.
We played maybe 15 games a year(10th grade we played like 20 something).
For my first year here was my stats:
-The opposing team averaged about 40+ shots a game against me.
-The opposing team scored an average of 4 points a game.
- My block percentage was 90%

- Our points per game average was maybe 2
- Our forwards MAYBE averaged 12-15 shots a game. Seriously.

That and the fact I had one good fullback that ran up and played forward every !@#$% game but never scored.  So I was left with two rookies.
I was hardcore.  I took cleets in the face and chest.  I played every game to it's fullest.  Never subbed out.  I was playing in games where it was 40 degrees, freezing my nuts off, raining, and took a cleet in the body which almost broke my ribs and still kept playing.
We had an even record that year.

My Junior year, I didn't play soccer so I could work out after school.

My senior year, I told the coach I would only be goalie if the team wanted it.
I always wanted to be a forward(And I scored our first goal of that year ^^ ).
Well, we won our first game, then lost two.
We had a 9th grader as our goalie who was a piece of !@#$% short dude...WTF?
Then the captain of the team comes up to me and say,"Michael, !@#$% this, you are our goalie."
From then on we never lost a game.

Stats from my senior year:
- After I was goalie, never lost a game
- Opposing teams averaged about 20 shots a game against me(my best friend was my only real fullback...he got MVP and was the other captain.
- I was awarded MR. Defense that year.
- Opposing team averaged about 1.3 points a game after I was goalie
-  We averaged about 3 points a game
- Our ending record was 11-2-1
-  The one tie was my first game back on a rainy day and a VERY !@#$% short ass field.
-  And I set school records as a goalie\

Think I may have a shot? I've been out of sports for 2 years since I graduated by I still got my reflexes and can get back into shape in no time.

EDIT:
I forgot, my first year playing (9th grade) we won the state championship.
I lost my ring though, goddamnit!

Work and train. Hard. Most as possible. Both physically, technically and mentally (being mature in game and knowing situation).
That's what you can do to get better on sports, plus the experience you already have (though it doesn't mean there is still little to learn).
Train hard everyday, that's the most you can do.
Also, follow your dream with ambition, for instance, I have a great childhood friend who became a coach (secondary) at the age of 15 on the local team (on the portuguese 1st division).
And don't forget you must keep your ambition and keep yourself from losing motivation so you don't stop training.
As an example, I'm now doing: 1000 jump ropes, 10 km running, 20min powerball and 300 swings everyday, as preparation for my next tennis tournament (12th July) while I'm injured. (I'll still do it when I get better)
Anyways, just do it, and do it the best you can. Soccer is a great sport and I love the teamwork part, the atmosphere on the team whenever you win (even more in case you win something big) is just great. On tennis, we celebrate alone, not that fun.
Good luck. ;)

Well what Division are you looking at going for? I'm sure you could get a Division III spot pretty easily but if your looking for Division I that may be a different story... That requires a lot of the whole recruitment politics yadda yadda yadda. If you're going for walk-on you are gonna have to dedicate your life to training till tryouts. Good Luck though!
